Most guests found Jaspers Retreat to be clean and comfortable. However, a few reviews mentioned the need for better vacuuming upon arrival and some stray dog hair, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The location is highly praised for its central position, stunning views, and proximity to local amenities. The steep road to the property is noted, which may be a consideration for those with walking difficulties.

The property is well-equipped with a range of amenities and facilities that guests found satisfactory. Some minor maintenance issues, such as loose handles and the need for more generous provision of wood/kindling, were mentioned.

Guests were delighted by the extra touches like wine, biscuits, and hand soaps, which added to the welcoming feel of the property. While these gifts are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

Weather wasn't brilliant but still found plenty to do. There was 6 of us and 3 dogs. There was plenty of room for all. The accommodation was big and roomy but still cosy. The underfloor heating and fire was great on the chilly evenings. The bathrooms were fab as was the walk in showers. Plenty of hot water. The bedrooms are a great size and the beds were very comfortable and all have good sized TVs. The kitchen had everything you could of wished for...plenty of cutlery, plates, dishes, mugs, glasses etc. The dining room table is big with plenty of elbow room and the furniture in the seating area is big and comfortable. Great size T.V too. The views are spectacular. I would love to go again in the summer months to be able to sit outside and look at those views. We did have a power cut due to storm Debi arriving but it really didn't bother us as we had torches and it didn't last that long, only around half hour. Great shopping in the town too. Good choice of restaurants and pubs. The dogs loved it too and didn't get under each others paws as there was plenty of room for them. They are biggish dogs too...Rottweiler, Alsatian and a medium sized rescue dog. Great field just up the hill for them to have a run round and also a park area down by the lake which is very secure and fenced off. Thank you for a great stay. We will no doubt be back.

It was a super base for our week in the Lake District. The house is very comfortable, well equipped and has been tastefully designed with lovely bedrooms and a lounge/dining area with views of Windermere and plenty of space for 3 couples to socialise. Our host was quick to address minor maintenance problems as soon as we reported them to her. We really hope to return in the future as we loved this property and its location.
