Snaptrip says

Laurel Cottage is a well-received holiday rental with many guests praising its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped kitchen. The upside-down living arrangement and proximity to local pubs are appreciated, though some guests noted issues with pub availability. The location is ideal for exploring the South Lakes, and the cottage's warmth and cosiness are frequently mentioned. While some guests encountered maintenance issues and a lack of welcome gifts, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found Laurel Cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with several positive remarks about its tidiness. However, a few reviews mentioned specific cleanliness issues such as cobwebs and a smell of damp dog, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is generally praised for being a good base to explore the lakes, with mentions of nearby pubs and a quiet village setting. Some guests were disappointed with pub closures and the lack of a promised river walk, but the overall feedback on location is positive.

Guests often describe the cottage as comfortable, with a special mention of the upgraded showers and the cosy upside-down living arrangement. Some guests, however, found the mattresses too soft and the central heating noisy, which affects the comfort score.

Facilities at Laurel Cottage are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen and the inclusion of a utility room. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as problematic taps, a noisy central heating system, and a small TV, which impacts the score.

While some guests missed a welcome basket and felt that the cottage could be more dog-friendly, there are not enough reviews mentioning gifts or specific thoughtful touches to accurately score this category.

About this property

In a quiet location close to the South Lakes, with a gentle walk along the river and the southern tip of Lake Windermere just minutes away, Laurel Cottage is the perfect choice for a Lakeland holiday. Converted from a row of workmen's cottages, Laurel Cottage maintains all its period charm with plenty of contemporary style. Pet friendly and sleeping 4, it's a perfect jumping off point for a young family or a couple who want to explore the South Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales and the Cumbrian coast. The accommodation at Laurel Cottage has been finished to a very high standard, keeping period features like the old wood beams and adding modern convenience. The cottage is topsy-turvy, so after you enter through the hall with its utility cupboard housing the washing machine and tumble dryer, you'll find the master double bedroom with en-suite shower room, wash basin and WC, then the second bedroom with a pair of children's bunk beds. There's also a bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC. Upstairs, you'll find the main living accommodation which makes the most of the views. There's a spacious and open plan living/dining and kitchen area that's fully equipped. The living space is beautifully decorated and there are squashy sofas, a wood burning stove and a dining table. Outside the views are simply enchanting over the rolling green hills and you can view them from the paved front and back gardens. Relax on a summer's day and listen to the babbling of the river or take a stroll to one of the many pubs nearby. There's private parking for 1 car, plus on-street parking. Spark Bridge is just 2 miles from Coniston Water and a 5-minute drive from the southern tip of Lake Windermere. This is a peaceful and tranquil part of the world, ideal for exploring the South Lakes but also offering a tranquil haven away from the tourist hot spots. Laurel Cottage is ideal for a family holiday in the beautiful Lake District, with attractions like the South Lakeland Animal Park and Aquarium nearby to keep the children happy and some of the best walking and biking in the country around the picturesque lakes and fells. Enjoy a beach day on one of the scenic and unspoiled Cumbrian beaches nearby or take the opportunity to explore the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales. Whether you love learning about English heritage, are a steam train enthusiast or love fine dining, the Lake District is the ideal destination. Bright and airy, Laurel Cottage is perfectly equipped for a young family or outdoorsy couple - and their dog - who want to see a different side of Lakeland life at any time of year.

A small village, Spark Bridge offers two pubs. Nearby, lies the village of Greenodd, where you will find a variety of shops and a pub. We visited Ulverston, Bardsea and Coniston which are all within 10-20min drive from the property. Both pubs nearby were warm and welcoming. We definitely will be booking again!

Settees are truly comfortable after a day out and the kitchen is well equipped and very spacious for food preparation. Also, there is plenty of space for coats and walking boots etc by both the front and back doors. The bed is also very comfortable and there is a powerful shower in the en-suite. We would definitely return to Laurel Cottage!
