About this property

As quirky as its name, End Pewe is a beautifully modernised Lakeland cottage nestling on the edge of Grizedale Forest in the little village of Satterthwaite. A quiet location but still with easy access to the Lakeland attractions. Delightfully cosy for a couple’s retreat and flexible enough with a spare single room for a friend. This delightful 2 bedroomed cottage is perfect for those wanting to explore the Forest: either on foot or bike, with a great pub just a short stroll away. We are sure this new cottage will soon become a firm favourite with our guests.
End Pewe is captivating throughout, entrance into a cosy sitting room, complete with warming & stylish inset multi-fuel stove - perfect for those winter nights. There is a large, comfortable sofa and chair and wall mounted flatscreen TV with freesat, and a DVD player, and WiFi for the use of guests. There is a wall mounted electric radiator and deep pile rug on the tiled floor.
The quirky angled Kitchen, is modern, stylish, and well equipped with an integrated electric 4 hob top, electric fan oven with grill, integrated fridge/with freezer compartment, microwave and washing machine. The compact area has been well designed to maximise the space.
Off the sitting room is a separate dining room with electric wall mounted radiator, ventilated heat from the back of the stove and double doors opening onto the pretty private patio.
On this floor there is a contemporary fitted shower room, with a three piece suite comprising; wash basin with mixer tap, mirrored cabinet with light over and adjacent shave point, a WC and a fully tiled shower with glazed doors. There is also a heated towel rail, Velux window and elegant slate tiled floor, which has the luxury of under floor heating.
The staircase leads up to two pretty bedrooms with coordinated furnishings and lovely outlook.

There is a double room with a kingsize bed and lovely views of the church. It has a decorative feature fireplace, wall lights, chest of drawers, a dressing table set, built in wardrobe and a wall mounted electric radiator.

The second single bedroom has lovely views again, bedside cabinet and chest of drawers and a wall mounted electric radiator.
Outside there is a pretty paved garden, ideal for relaxing and enjoying a morning coffee, an evening glass of wine or a barbeque. There is also a useful shed that is designed to house logs for the fire and secure storage for bikes.

We picked up the keys from Lakeland Hideaways without any difficulty and arrived at Rose Cottage. The only negative thing we could say, and it was a very minor issue, is that there is no real parking space for the cottage. We parked on the corner next to the gate, which seemed fine as no one complained but it was on a corner of a no through road. Once inside the cottage was immaculately clean and tidy and the fire had been laid, ready for lighting. The bedrooms were upstairs, up a narrow staircase, and were neat and tidy with a comfortable double bed in one and a single bed in the other. There was more than sufficient hanging space for our long weekend. Downstairs there is a dining area, shower room, kitchen and lounge with a multi-fuel fire, tv and internet wi-fi. There is a also a comfortable settee and chair. Some tea and coffee, with mini milk cartons greeted us on arrival. Outside there is a paved garden with table, chairs, and a hose for washing down the dog after walks. There is a also a log store and shed. The cottage was perfect as it was only 100 m from the local pub, the Eagles Head, which has a varied menu with locally made pies, sandwiches and a good selection of beers and wines. The log fire and staff gave the pub a warm welcoming feeling. Satterthwaite is a small village between Hawkshead and Newby Bridge, it also sits on the edge of Grizedale Forest, which has some fantastic walks for all ages and fitness. There are two walks you can take directly from the cottage into the forest, which saves you having to pay the car park fees. Grizedale also has bike rentals, a cafe, zip slides and forest sculptures. It's a great outdoor venue. From Satterthwaite you can also easily reach the ferry to Bowness-on-Windermere or go round the Lake. We had a fantastic weekend, despite drizzly and misty weather. We will be back.

Lovely cottage which is perfect for a quiet break, extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. Well placed to visit towns and villages of the southern lakes and local to lots of walking opportunities. A car is needed as there are no shops in the village but they are only a short drive away. Would certainly look forward to a repeat visit.
