About this property

Tucked away in the centre of Ambleside within the breath-taking landscapes of the Lake District National Park, is this beautiful white-washed cottage. Dating back to the 19th century, Honeypot Cottage has been delightfully renovated to a high-standard and boast an excellent position overlooking Loughrigg towards Old Man Conniston, together providing a fantastic setting for any family or group getaway. Be welcomed into the homely living/dining room and allow yourself to fall onto the plush leather sofa as you rest and recuperate by the striking gas fire and delight in your favourite shows on the TV. Continue through to the smart fully-fitted kitchen and discover a plethora of handy appliances, helping you throughout your stay. Climb the staircase up to the first floor and be greeted by two pretty bedrooms made up of a double and a twin, both of which can be found boasting incredible views of the encompassing landscapes and are served by a bright and airy bathroom. Enjoy a warm cup of tea at the charming bistro table that rests within the fabulous back garden, before grabbing your walking boots and heading out on one of the many scenic trails that rest right on your doorstep. Wander along the picturesque Grasmere Waterfall Walkways or head for the mountains with a hike to the top of Wansfell Pike, and admire far reaching views of the Lake District. Grab a quick bite to eat in one of the quirky cafés that line the streets of Ambleside, before wandering the halls of the Derwent Pencil Museum or the enchanting Puzzling Place optical illusion exhibition. Try a new and exciting watersport out on Lake Windermere with the Lake District Paddleboarding School, or fly through the skies over at Treetop Lake District. Tour the imposing 19th century fortress of Wray Castle and the former home of Beatrix Potter, Hill Top, both owned by the incredible National Trust. Hike through Black Crag Peak or spend the day at the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, just a pleasant drive away, before returning to this inviting home-away-from-home for a relaxing evening indoors. Make the most of quality time with your loved ones on a holiday to Honeypot Cottage.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Lovely location. We've never been to the Lake District before but we really enjoyed our stay.

    Thanks

There’s a steep hill to walk back from town but there are short cuts to be found and it doesn’t take too long and the views from the cottage are worth it. We’d stay again.
