Ullswater is thought by many to be the most beautiful of all the lakes in the Lake District. Often compared to Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, it is a serpentine body of water snaking a 9 mile course under the lea of magnificent fells, woodland and mountains. It is a glorious base for larger families or groups of friends looking to explore the northern parts of the Lake District as there are miles of stunning woodland walks to discover, with charming villages and pubs along the way. Sailing is available close by. The bustling town of Penrith is to the north (9 miles), with the peaks of Little Mell Fell and Great Mell Fell to the west, and the Aira Force Waterfall to the south, (5 miles). Explore the local market town of Keswick, a short drive away (under 15 miles), with fantastic eateries, a friendly ambience and a never ending list of things to do and experience. This delightful barn conversion built from local stone, provides sumptuous accommodation for up to eight guests, making it ideal for a family celebration, reunion or a relaxing, luxurious break. On your arrival, you will be welcomed by a grand, sweeping, private driveway that will take you to the entrance of the property. Nestled within a beautifully landscaped garden, the barn offers breathtaking views of Lake Ullswater from all front windows. Enter the barn through the large oak door with an ornate Chinese door knocker and into the spacious hall lit with ambient wall pillar candles mounted within sculpted archways. Take the circular stairs to the open dining area, with large picture window that floods the room with natural light, a wonderful space for everyone to gather. Through the door to the right of the dining area, you will find a tranquil lounge area, with a breathtaking open fire set in a spectacular ceiling height fireplace, finished with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and luxurious furnishings. Make your way back through the dining area to the powder blue kitchen, a superbly equipped space for you and your guests to make an evening meal, offering an Aga style oven for the winter months, electric oven and gas hob, wine cooler, American style fridge/freezer and much more. Take two steps up and through an original barn style door to the utility room, one more barn door will take you down several steps to a cosy snug area, also accessible from the downstairs hallway, a perfect room for the children to relax and play whilst dinner is cooked. Returning to the lower ground floor hallway, turning left you will find, a zip and link twin or super king room with exposed beams, heading back to the long corridor, the door next to this delightful bedroom is a large family bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. Next door along, you will find a cosy twin with a window bench. At the end of the hallway, you will find the snug that joins the upstairs of the property through the utility. Heading back to the hallway and taking a right turn, you will find another super king size bedroom. Finally, the master suite sits at the end of the corridor, tastefully decorated with a range of art and furnishings from around the world, two windows overlooking the lake with window benches, the master suite will forever take your breath away.
