This was our 2nd stay at Branthwaite Cottage with the last being three years ago. The cottage is highly maintained and very clean. It is next to a working farm but that did not disturb us at all. As with all cottages there are some quirks around height of ceilings but this is a small price to pay. The cottage is quite remote so plan to pick up your shopping on the way. Having left the chaos of Keswick the remoteness was a welcome relief. Ideal location for exploring the northern lakes, Carlisle and Hadrians Wall. Such a different break to the southern lakes. The cottage has everything you need and there was even a welcome pack of eggs, bread and milk. A large pantry room allows you to store food away from the kitchen. A washing machine, dryer and dishwasher made for a homely stay. Loved driving back to cottage on an evening, lighting a fire with a Lake District beer and a good book. Absolute bliss and highly recommended

We had an exceptionally comfortable stay at Branthwaite Cottage. Cosy and warm, lovely shower and heaps of space if you have a lot of kit. Fire wood, dishwasher tablets and washing detergent in plentiful supply - brilliant! The cottage does have its quirks which we found characterful and charming. However, the building is right in the thick of the farm, so if you are someone that might find farm noise a nuisance or if you are tall, you might consider staying elsewhere.

Perfect cottage for a getaway from it all holiday in a lovely location.Branthwaite Cottage has everything you could need with all top quality equipment. It is an old cottage with very low doorways upstairs (watch your head) but it’s been immaculately restored and is very warm and comfortable. Some great walks & bike rides in the area with quiet tracks & roads with hardly any traffic. There’s no shops or pubs in the area which suited us down to the ground.Close enough to the Lake District without being over run.
