Guests say

Branthwaite Cottage is a beautifully restored, spotlessly clean and well-equipped cottage in a tranquil rural setting, ideal for walkers and those seeking peace and quiet. Guests praise its comfort, warmth, and high-quality furnishings, with many highlighting the excellent kitchen and thoughtful touches. The location is remote, offering direct access to scenic walks and cycling, though some mention the need to plan for shopping and the presence of farm noise. Low ceilings upstairs are a quirk to be mindful of, especially for taller guests. Overall, the cottage provides a charming and relaxing countryside retreat.

Cleanliness is consistently praised, with multiple guests describing the cottage as spotlessly clean, immaculate, and highly maintained. Only positive comments were made regarding the standard of cleanliness.

The location is described as peaceful, beautiful, and ideal for exploring the northern Lake District, with direct access to walks and cycling. Some guests note the remoteness and farm noise, but most appreciate the tranquillity and proximity to nature.

Guests frequently mention the cottage's warmth, comfortable beds, and cosy atmosphere. The main drawback is the low ceilings and beams upstairs, which can be challenging for taller guests, but overall comfort is rated highly.

The cottage is very well equipped, with a modern kitchen, woodburning stove, good WiFi, and laundry facilities. Some minor criticisms include limited outdoor views and space for children to play, but overall facilities are excellent.

Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack with eggs, bread, and milk, as well as plentiful supplies of firewood and cleaning products. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

This was our second visit to Branthwaite Cottage. We love it, great location a home from home for us. Well stocked and comfortable. We took a table cloth for the outside table. O2 coverage was hit and miss in the property. If tall, just need to watch the low doors, bathroom beam upstairs! We visited the West Coast. St Bees is a lovely beach, worth a visit. Fabulous walks locally. Quiet peaceful location, no issues. Had a great week, we would highly recommend Branthwaite Cottage.

Lovely peaceful location and not too far from services. Immaculate inside. It was very well equipped and comfortable. Something to be wary about, and what we were told before booking, so not a surprise, was the low entrance to the bathroom. Lovely comfortable beds in spacious bedrooms. A nice touch and much appreciated was the welcome pack. We would definitely recommend a stay in this cottage.
