Fell View Cottage in Cumbria is highly praised for its cleanliness, stunning views, and comfortable accommodation. Guests appreciate the warm welcome from hosts Anne and Jim, the peaceful farm setting, and the thoughtful touches like gifts on arrival. The cottage's location is ideal for exploring the Lake District and enjoying the countryside. While some mention the challenge of heating and the downstairs bathroom, the overall experience is one of a cosy, well-equipped retreat.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers consistently mention the high standard of cleanliness at Fell View Cottage, describing it as 'spotless' and 'immaculately clean', indicating exceptional attention to cleanliness.

The cottage's location is frequently highlighted for its spectacular views and tranquillity. It is appreciated for its proximity to local attractions and walks, despite some comments about its remoteness from pubs and restaurants.

Guests find the cottage extremely comfortable and cosy, with special mentions of comfy beds and a cosy log burner. A few guests noted the challenge of heating, but overall comfort levels are rated highly.

The property is well-equipped, with a great kitchen and amenities. Some guests suggest improvements in heating arrangements, but the presence of a wood stove and the provision of extra heaters by the hosts mitigate these concerns.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome gifts and local recommendations provided, although it is politely noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be a standard offering for all stays.

About this property

A detached barn conversion, on a working beef farm, close to Bootle on the western side of the beautiful Lake District National Park. This is a charming cottage, which is an ideal base for families and friends wishing to explore this lovely part of the country. This delightful cottage is superbly presented with two bedrooms, a shower room and open plan living accommodation with beamed ceilings, underfloor heating and woodburning stove and a well-equipped kitchen with dining area. Outside, there is a private enclosed yard with a raised patio area, with views across to the beautiful Black Combe, which during late summer is festooned with heather. This is an ideal spot for you to relax with a refreshing drink or to dine alfresco. There is a footpath running from the cottage down to the coast, and the award-winning beach at Silecroft is just five miles away, where you can find a lovely inn, pony trekking and a 9-hole golf course. To travel further afield, you can embark on the West Coast railway line at Bootle Station and travel up the coast to Ravenglass, where you can hop on-board the Ravenglass & Eskdale narrow gauge railway, which will take you up the Eskdale Valley to the foot of Scafell. As well as the trekking centre in Silecroft, there is also a wonderful opportunity to visit the Cumbrian Heavy Horse Centre and participate on a ride over the fells on a Clydesdale, Shire or Ardennes horse. At the end of the day, return to this fabulous cottage and settle down in front of the cosy woodburning stove, or enjoy the beautiful clear sky for fabulous sunsets on Black Combe and starry moonlit nights. A perfect place to stay at any time of the year.

Bootle is a village in the Borough of Copeland in the western Lake District of Cumbria with an impressive history dating back to the Domesday Book.

Beautiful cottage with gorgeous log burner and playful dog named Jess kept our youngest happy outside for hours. Will definitely return, little slice of heaven out in the country. Lovely locals, highly recommend Bryre Cafe tea room and The Brown Cow Inn for food

The owners Anne and Jim were so helpful and friendly, suggesting places to visit. The cottage itself was immaculately clean and well equipped with everything you need. Beautifully furnished it was lovely to snuggle up next to the log burner each evening. We also loved staying on a working farm and enjoyed looking out across the fields and over to Black Combe each day. The boys loved playing fetch with Jess the farm dog

The cottage is lovely, well equipped, clean, comfortable and well maintained. Anne and Jim are friendly and welcoming hosts and obviously take pride in providing a good standard of accommodation. I would definitely recommend Fell View cottage and would love to return.
