Guests say

The Hayloft in Cumbria receives high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and stunning location. Guests appreciate the warm hospitality from hosts Fiona and John, the convenience of walks directly from the property, and the tranquility of the surrounding Newlands Valley. While most reviews are glowing, a few mention minor issues with facilities and maintenance.

The majority of guests report that The Hayloft is clean and well-maintained, with several reviews highlighting its spotlessness. However, one review mentions a lack of cleanliness, which slightly impacts the overall score.

The location is consistently described as stunning, tranquil, and perfect for walking, with beautiful views and wildlife. The remote setting is appreciated, although one review notes the distance from the main road and another the inaccuracy of the distance to the local pub.

Guests find the cottage to be very comfortable, with special mentions of the cozy atmosphere, large comfortable beds, and the warmth provided by the log fire. One review mentions hard beds, but this seems to be an isolated opinion.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and reliable WiFi. However, some guests suggest improvements, such as the provision of a torch during power cuts and better information on the location. One negative review cites issues with maintenance and equipment.

While many reviews express gratitude for the hosts' hospitality and helpfulness, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches that would fall under this category. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

Fiona and John are a lovely couple very friendly and helpful and our Border Collie loved seeing the farms Collies and having a bit play with them. Unfortunately the weather was terrible rain and sometimes gale force winds snow and ice but 2 days we had bright skies and a bit of sun, but we were out and about every day and managed a couple mountains on the better days. We will definitely be back have to book early as very popular for good reason.

John & Fiona are wonderful hosts and are always happy to help if needed. The cottage is cosy and warm always plenty of logs. There’s every thing you need it’s a home from home for us. The fabulous walks right from your back door and we absolutely love the farm valley. Already thinking about another booking xx

Loads of great walks without moving the car and it was really interesting to watch the lovely owners on their working sheep farm. We were blessed with sunshine all week which was an added bonus to our stay. A hidden gem off the beaten track which was so relaxing.
