We have been staying at Rotherwood for quite a few years now, and we have booked for next year too, so that says a lot. Lovely spacious and comfortable cottage in a superb location. We have always found it clean and well equipped but the addition of a couple of lamps in the lounge would make it more homely and the Best Before dates on some of the welcome pack items needs reviewing! There are a couple of maintenance issues though, the source of the mould in the main bathroom needs to be investigated and resolved. Probably a better extractor fan or a service of the current one may well resolve the issue. Many of the window locks are loose, full replacement, for what it would cost, would ensure that they don’t fail whilst the cottage is occupied. All that said, we love staying at Rotherwood and envisage that we will continue to do so for years to come. Fully recommend.

Portinscale was a perfect location for us. Just a 20 minute walk to Keswick. A 2.5 mile walk to High Brandlehow, where my parents' ashes were scattered.Rotherwood is very well equipped and spacious with a beautiful garden.

Great location and amenities both inside and around the property. Heating, water, utensils, appliances were all good As others have said, twin single beds are noisy and cleaning standards are not quite there. Main concerns relate to cleaning. Some mildew in bathrooms, the shower drained slowly, I checked it and it was choked with hairs and detritus, the shower head pipes were not cleaned and had dirt in the grooves. My wife found a discarded contact lens stuck on the LHS table lamp in the ensuite room. Underside of the basin was streaked with toothpaste or washing drips. The cleaner clearly doesn't 'see' certain areas. Photos can be supplied if needed.Waste disposal is confusing as colours in the paperwork don't match the actual colour of the bin lid. Seemingly there are no recycling facilities?Paperwork also mentions a welcome pack that was not present, as mentioned by other reviews. So many good points let down by a lack of care in cleaning and supplying up to date information in the booklet.Great parking and garden, yes it's not secure but hey ho.
