It retains a lot of original character, including slate and timber floors and sandstone fire surrounds, enhanced with the very best of furnishings, from the elegant nickel bedsteads to the contemporary bathrooms and the modern kitchen with Siemens appliances. Mary’s Cottage also has a great location, very close to the town centre and amenities, yet in a quiet area. We have stayed in Mary’s cottage for at least the past 13 years We are booked for 2027 However I have in recent years been disappointed by the lack of mugs 5 for 6 guests They are also quite worn, The towels also look as though they have been used and washed many times. I always swap the thick duvet for a thin summer one which is provided. Though again this was very worn and in a hot summer the option to have a lighter duvet is important.and there isn’t that option for all beds Thank you for giving me the opportunity to give some feedback. However we like the house and we give these comments to help maintain the high standards which we would always choose for in our holiday accommodation

Mary's Cottage is a stunning conversion with modern features and layout, but which retains the character of an old building. The first floor living/dining room is spacious and comfortable and was cool in the warmer weather. Bedrooms felt luxurious with good storage/hanging and amazing views over the roof tops to the fells beyond. 3 sets of stairs between the basement kitchen and top floor bedroom, but the view is worth it! The location is 4 minutes walk from the busy town centre but you don't hear street noise at night, even when the football was on! The kitchen and house is well equipped, but not with consumables - tea/coffee/milk/extra loo roll/toiletries not provided. This is just the difference between a large letting company and a small Airbnb where you might have these things included, only mentioning for packing purposes! We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and we had a lovely stay here, plenty of peaceful space to spread out and relax, yet easy access to amenities and exploring the Lakes beyond.
