Close to the shores of Thirlmere reservoir and nestling at the foot of the magnificent Helvellyn, this first floor holiday apartment forms part of an elegant country house hotel. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it enjoys stunning views of beautifully landscaped, mature gardens and the lake, and has been designed and furnished to a very high standard. Within the Lake District National Park are Castlerigg stone circle (National Trust), Shepherd’s Crag, Dove Cottage Wordsworth Museum and Hardknott Castle. Good walking abounds with gentle lakeside walks and more strenuous walks - notably Helvellyn and Skiddaw. Lake Windermere offers boat trips and good shops; Keswick (6 miles) has tennis, riding, golf and fishing; sailing on Lake Bassenthwaite.

Staff were friendly on arrival and were helpful showing us around. The views around the lake are beautiful and you get welcomed in the morning with Cows near the door! It was in the perfect location for Keswick, grasmere and Rydal waters, with a slightly longer drive to Windermere. The place was nice and quiet, a great get away. The phone number does not work and no one answered this, however upon arrival someone was there to great us, I would suggest removing this number if it is no longer in use as people travel far and it can cause a bit on unease for travelers. The place itself was homely and spacious, there were a few blinds broken and a bit of dirt/dust left however I would definitely recommend This place to stay it was the best time away and great value for money.

Leatheswater was an excellent base for a week in the Lake District. The location is very peaceful and quiet, right next to Thirlmere. We loved being able to walk up Helvellyn directly from our front door, and the pub across the road is great. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The only slight difficulty was that the phone number given for arranging check-in was never answered, but on arrival we found Dale at the hotel and he showed us in and was very helpful.
