Good walking abounds with gentle lakeside walks and more strenuous walks - notably Helvellyn and Skiddaw. Lake Windermere offers boat trips and good shops; Keswick (6 miles) has tennis, riding, golf and fishing; sailing on Lake Bassenthwaite.

Great location for walking, both from the cottage directly, but also by bus as there's a bus stop very close by (and a pub)!Cottage is in a quiet area, away from the main road. Owners very helpful with a few small issues we had.Disappointing that the thermostats on the radiators didn't work which meant the place was too hot.

I had a lovely week in leatheswater, the size of the apartment was great and location was perfect for me. I liked the garden element and if the sun was out more I definitely would have been out there for lunch. Things to bear in mind whilst the apartment does have wifi, I struggled to load google web pages and send messages and the bathroom window would benefit from a frosted glaze as I did feel like there was potentionally people might have been able to see in when the lights were on. But I did have a lovely stay and when I talked to the people around they were lovely.
