The shores of Derwentwater are less than 1 mile away, where there are incredible views of the water and peaks beyond. Go on a boat cruise to explore or set out from there on a walk, including the 10-mile circular route around the lake. You’ll pass the Theatre by the Lake, less than 1 mile away, which has regular productions and family friendly events, and a lovely cafe restaurant. Keen walkers may want to visit Skiddaw and Blencathra, both less than 6 miles away, and everyone will enjoy the views from Castlerigg Stone Circle. Dating back to around 3000 BC, it sits in a dramatic elevated position with a beautiful backdrop of Helvellyn and High Seat and panoramic views less than 2 miles from the cottage.
