Guests say

Apple Cross in Keswick is a spacious, well-equipped cottage in an excellent location, just a short walk from the town centre and parks. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, comfort, and dog-friendly features, with many returning for repeat stays. The conservatory and garden are highlights, and parking is generally straightforward. Some minor issues are noted, such as the lack of bathroom door locks, occasional maintenance work, and a few kitchen items missing, but overall, guests highly recommend the property for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Cleanliness is frequently praised, with multiple guests describing the cottage as spotless, well-maintained, and exceptionally clean. Only one review mentioned external building work affecting the experience, but this was not related to the interior cleanliness.

The location is a standout feature, with nearly every review highlighting its proximity to Keswick town centre, parks, and walking routes. Guests appreciate being able to walk to amenities and attractions, and most found parking easy.

Guests find the cottage very comfortable, especially the beds and living areas. The spacious layout, conservatory, and garden add to the comfort. A few minor comments mention steep stairs and less comfortable sofas, but these are outweighed by positive feedback.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, with a good kitchen, modern bathrooms, and useful amenities for dog owners. Some guests noted missing kitchen items (e.g., chopping boards, ovenware), lack of bathroom door locks, and occasional maintenance issues, but these did not significantly detract from the overall experience.

There are no mentions of welcome gifts or special thoughtful touches such as welcome packs in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

The house was lovely but I think we should have been told before we booked about the scaffolding being up and painters working on the house. We were notified a few weeks before we went that scaffolding would be up but by then we had paid for our holiday. We definitely would not have booked it if we had known that they would be working on the property during our stay. I think if they have essential work to do then they shouldn’t let out the property while they are doing it. Also although there were 2 bathrooms at night everyone has to use the one on the first floor as it’s too far to go to the ground floor one. The one on the first floor also had steps down to it and then one up and is not suitable for older people. If the house is full then that means 6 people are using one bathroom at night.
