About this property

Millom 3.5 miles. This historical, two-storey cottage lies in the hamlet of Whicham, a few miles from the coastal town of Millom, Cumbria. Enjoying a beautiful, secluded location with off-road parking, Moore Cottage is a wonderful abode for a family of four. Step inside and you’ll immediately sense the character of the cottage, leading through to the living/dining room where you can catch-up on the Smart TV or lose yourself in a good book. When hunger strikes, head to the kitchen and rustle up a delicious meal, using the electric oven and halogen hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, whilst the dishwasher aids the cleaning up. From the kitchen, step out of the patio door to the enclosed patio, featuring high walls for a great level of privacy; take the evening outside and enjoy alfresco dining from the patio furniture before climbing into the hot tub and relaxing under the stars. The bedrooms at Moore Cottage are situated upstairs, comprising of two king-size bedrooms, both with wall-mounted TVs, with the master occupying a lavish en-suite shower room. Completing the interior is the family bathroom, offering a choice of bath and walk-in shower so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. On-site there is a pub, where you can enjoy a refreshing pint with your meal, ideal when you fancy a night away from the kitchen. When you’re ready to explore, there is a plethora of idyllic coastal walks available for the energetic, including the magnificent fells at Wasdale Head and Scafell, which are nearby. If you are seeking more energetic activities, there is a horse trekking centre specialising in memorable coastal rides, or take a trek on a Cumbrian Heavy Horse over Black Combe. Head into the scenic Lake District National Park and see the hustle and bustle at Ambleside and Windermere, including the popular World of Beatrix Potter and the Hill Top House, which was once occupied by Beatrix Potter herself. Book Moore Cottage and escape to this delightful region of Cumbria.

The northern beaches of the estuary leading to the River Duddon are framed by this small coastal village on the southern borders of the Lake District National Park. The Millom Museum provides a window into its past, with a drift mine reconstruction paying homage to its iron and steel operations. A statue of "The Scutcher," who halted the iron ore tubs with an iron bar and his own strength, can also be found in the town centre honouring the iron industry. Norman Nicholson, a writer who lived in this town, has a stained glass window at St. George's Church that is dedicated to his memory. The unusual "fish" window in the Holy Trinity Church is especially interesting to see. For the perfect family day, explore the ruins of Millom Castle and then head to the adjacent town of Haverigg with its Blue Flag beach, renovated lighthouse, and kids' adventure play areas. You may also see Josefina de Vasconcellos' 7-ton sculpture, "Escape to Light," which she built as a tribute to the UK's inshore rescue teams. It is located close to the Haverigg Inshore Rescue station. The South Lakes Safari Zoo, Black Combe for hikes with breathtaking vistas, and Sandscale Haws, a National Nature Reserve with an exceptional dune ecosystem supporting a plethora of wildlife, are just a few of the area's other attractions. The charming Lakes District towns and villages including Grizedale, Ambleside, and Windermere are located farther away, in addition to the region's numerous walking and cycling routes. Take an exciting vacation in Cumbria.

The hot tub was an added bonus & well maintained. The staff excellent, helpful & friendly. The only bad thing was lack of bathroom doors. Even with the fan on , the windows in the bedroom became damp & the nearest bed in the bedroom to the left of the stairs was damp. I tried to air it well.

The views stunning. The cottage facilities had everything. All you needed was clothes and food. Even all the little extras like tea towels, oven cloves, dishwasher capsules, washing up liquid and soap and towels all included. Made use of the hot tub which was emptied on our departure. Everything was perfect for our family of 4 and we are likely to return. The beds were firmer than ours at home but not uncomfortable. One bed was king and one was too singles pushed together so if you had 2 children like was ideal Couldn’t fault the cottage or the service Full marks from us Thank you

The only error in the listing was ‘smart TV’ which it didn’t actually have. Otherwise spot on!
