William Court Cottage is appreciated for its beautiful location and comfortable beds, with guests enjoying the well-equipped kitchen and the property's proximity to local amenities and walking routes. The presence of wildlife adds to the charm, although some guests noted minor maintenance issues.
The property generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with guests finding it clean upon arrival. However, a few guests mentioned areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning, such as shower mould.
The location is highly praised for its stunning setting and convenience for exploring the Western Lakes. The presence of local wildlife and nearby amenities like pubs and cafes adds to the appeal.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage homely. Some guests, however, reported issues with bed quality and suggested improvements for better sleep comfort.
While the kitchen is well-equipped and the property offers good amenities, several reviews point out maintenance issues such as loose taps and problematic doors. These recurring issues have impacted the score.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.
A superb, terraced, Lakeland cottage in the grounds of the Irton Hall Estate, a mile from the village of Santon Bridge, four miles from Wastwater. The accommodation in this welcoming Lake District cottage has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard, and is delightful both as a relaxing romantic retreat and a cosy family base, all set amidst wonderful Lakeland countryside. There is solid oak flooring throughout the ground floor, a king-size bed in the main bedroom, a pellet woodburning stove in the sitting room and a well-equipped kitchen. Guests have use of 19 acres of lovely parkland, and this area of Western Cumbria is a particularly beautiful region. There is superb walking and climbing on the doorstep, and with trails to suit all abilities, everyone can enjoy the spectacular surroundings. Great bike trails are available in the area, there is a local pub with excellent food, a lovely local tea room, Muncaster Castle is a short drive away, or why not enjoy a round on the nearby 18-hole golf course or a ride on the miniature railway in nearby Eskdale? A wonderful Lake District cottage for a superb holiday. Note: This cottage is close to Ref. 3977, together they sleep 8.
Irton Hall sits at the foothills of the Western fells and is situated amongst breathtaking lakeland countryside. Irton Hall lies just a couple of miles from Santon Bridge and Eskdale Green and is steeped in history with Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI both visiting the Irton Hall Estate. The area around Irton Hall is a walker's haven with many peaks, just as Scafell, Great Gable and Hard Knott and valleys, just as Eskdale and Wasdale all nearby. Other attractions in the area that are well worth visiting are Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway, plus Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country and St Olaf's - the smallest church . Irton Hall is a perfect base to explore this peaceful part of the Lake District.

We loved our stay and will stay again. Hats off to all the staff at Irton Hall, we attended their News Years Eve meal, and was very well organised. Thanks for a great stay.

The double bed was very comfortable and itâs in a very quiet location. The maintenance issues mentioned in lots of previous comments still remain, although this wasnât a problem. I would add a couple more: when I needed to use the first aid box, it was empty. One of the dining chairs has a cracked seat which means you sink down when you sit on it and itâs not comfortable!. I think the property could also benefit from more lighting/lamps. The kitchen and living room are very dingy in the evening. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay.

Within walking distance of 2 bars and a cafe. All serve food. Gardens are gorgeous. Maintenance wise there are some issues. These were mentioned by email and text to the numbers given however no reply was received which is very disappointing as I wouldn't have had to mention negative things on this review. Front door and bathroom door need urgent attention as the handles are not secure. The cold tap in the kitchen is impossible to turn off at times and is dripping wasting water. The stairs have some protruding stair grippers which if not wearing shoes is a hazard. We had a lovely week with beautiful weather. Would rebook if these issues are addressed.
