No smoking. Please note: There is a pond in the grounds.. Ivy Todd Barn is a fabulous converted barn with exposed beams. Set in rural Essex on a livery, ideal for couples to use as a touring base with a small courtyard with stunning countryside views. The high ceilings give the barn a great light and airy feel with ground floor open plan living area. A downstairs double bedroom with exposed beams and en-suite shower room, there is also a shower room that leads off the dining area. Upstairs a further bedroom with zip and link beds, a window into the barn next door and en-suite shower with exposed beams. Above the kitchen area, a galleried level offering a day bed with trundle bed underneath.
Nearby attractions include Saffron Walden, this medieval market town is rich in history where a market has been held since 1141, now held on a Tuesday and Saturday. There are several garden and trails to follow. Audley End House and Gardens is a great day out, where you can explore the mansion house, visit the glorious gardens or discover life as a Victorian servant. Shop 5 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 2 miles.

The Barn living area is a lovely large, light open space and the underfloor heating made it feel very cosy with the well equipped kitchen making it a very nice place to make dinner. Very comfortable beds and what a great idea to have movement sensitive lighting for nocturnal bathroom visits in the ensuites! It would have been nice to have a light next to the mirror at the top of the stairs as that seemed to be the only one with a plug nearby to see to do hair drying. We were lucky with warmish autumnal weather for sitting on the terrace with a lovely vista across the fields, glass of wine to hand before dinner. Locally at Ashdon the Rose & Crown is great for an evening meal and the attached farm shop for provisions & morning coffee is very handy, a few minutes in the car or 45 minutes delightful walk across the fields and bridlepath. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful whilst being busy with the farm. Once again apologies to them for messing up the cooker controls!! And thank you for the yummy apple cake! We would certainly recommend this place for a rural, peaceful getaway.
