The owner is very friendly and the fresh eggs, the milk and the bread are a nice touch as a welcome. I loved my stay here and recommend it as a nice retreat for a week out of the ratrace.

After originally staying a few years ago, we noticed how tired the lodge is now looking, especially in the living room where the 2 seater sofa is damaged & not very comfortable! The lodge would benefit from a deep clean as there was lots of dust about & cooking equipment left with food debris still on it. A final check would have discovered the wrappers left in cupboards & the wet glasses marking the shelf but we are sure that the owners will correct this in the future & if these issues were addressed then we would happily stay again!

We don't understand previous comments about the underfloor heating as we were toasy warm despite it being sub-zero outside. Perhaps they never discovered the themostat in the 2nd bedroom ? We didn't manage to get the EV charger working, but coundn't decide if it was the charger, my car or my cable that was playing up. Never mind, there are a couple of good charger options in Clavering - the Spar is cheaper than the pub.
