The village of Tiptree, famed for its successful jam production, rests in the pretty borough of Colchester. Wilkin and Sons is the family firm and you can visit the factory with a museum for an insight into the jam making. Tiptree was a contender for "the largest village in Britain" due to its immense development. To the south of the village is Tiptree Heath, home to a substantial heathland and a nature reserve, which covers 25-hectares.
