"Very nice cottage, very spacious but it felt a little unloved. Very rural, and approach road was extremely narrow, especially if you met another car. Would not want to have to back up 100 yards in the dark. Couldn’t gain entry into the house for about 20 minutes due to lock box being so hard to open and unable to reach the contact number because we were given the wrong number. However, once in we did have a pleasant week. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and very good pub 1 mile away."

"A really fantastic house, very comfortable in a lovely remote location. Taxi's had trouble finding it but if you want a real quiet house that can comfortably cope with 8 guests this is the place to go."

"Disappointed to say that there is nothing provided in the way of welcome pack. No tea, coffee, milk, nothing. All that is provided is a toilet roll in each toilet. Not even any hand wash if you do need the toilet . Now, after a long journey to get there, the first thing you want to do is visit the bathroom and make a cup of tea. So beware, you have to bring everything you need as there is nothing there. Every cottage we have been to always has some items provided or left by previous guests, like hand wash, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, shampoo or shower gel, etc, etc. But this place appears to have been purposely stripped bare of anything useful.Check in time is 3pm. We arrived at 3:10 but had to wait outside until 3:30pm as the cleaners hadn't finished. The place is nice and clean but beware if you don't like spiders as there are plenty, especially at ceiling height. I don’t think the cleaners look above head height. The garden is nice and big with wooden bench seats on the patio. The conservatory is a great addition with pool table and table tennis. The pool table is in poor condition and needs re-covering, and the table tennis bats need replacing as the rubber has come off. There was clearly a swimming pool in the conservatory but, unfortunately, has been covered over.Would recommend the short walk to the Henny Swan pub. Good food and good beer."

"Lovely large property that promised so much but just fell short! There was no welcome gift (which didn’t really matter). Smelt really musty, we knew it had been empty for three weeks and had obviously not been cleaned or aired prior to our visit. Mould in the dishwasher which really smelled bad, a bin in the kitchen that didn’t stay closed(not great in 36 degree heat and a when you have a black lab that lives for food). No sheet on one of the beds on arrival and had to make a call to get one put on. Had to buy descaler for the kettle and all shower heads needed descaling. Dead flies in the freezer. Took us a couple of days to find this as the door catch to the utility room is dodgy and we actually thought it was locked! We propped it open after that so that no one could get stuck in there. The locks to the front door were also temperamental. The first few days our dog was covered in cobwebs and dust as she explored the house. There were tissues and wrappers behind cupboards. On Sunday someone arrived and asked us to move our cars so they could get into the garage and proceeded to start mowing the lawns! Thought this was a big invasion of our privacy especially as we knew it was empty immediately before and after our holiday. We asked him to stop and he then announced that on Tuesday we would have a drone flying overhead as they were going to be taking pictures for new website. Umm, don’t think I’d given my permission to appear in those. Lastly had a leak in the conservatory roof. Owners may not know this but we had boiling hot weather and massive storms at night and came down to a large puddle in the morning. Also stated an enclosed garden which we wanted for our dog but it was an overgrown inkempt courtyard that you couldn’t spend any time in! The main garden was not enclosed. Such a shame as it could be truly spectacular but when your paying for a holiday you’ve saved hard for these small things just add up and leave you feeling disappointed."

"We were a group of 8 and we had a really lovely time. The cottage is absolutely amazing and beautifully decorated."
    gemma ‐ 23 Apr 2019
"We absolutely loved the cottage and the grounds were fantastic for the children and our puppy to explore. The amenities were great! Everything we needed as a large group! The only thing that let it down was an attack from the dog in the cottage next door. They had three dogs, one a massive German Shepherd- we managed to dodge him when he went for us - he had managed to get out without the owners knowing. Luckily my son and our dog ran inside just before he got out but could have been very serious! For that reason we were very wary about using the outdoor space which was a shame as the weather was perfect for outdoor games. The dogs owner was very apologetic and even gave us flowers, perhaps a fence would be an idea to separate the garden? This shouldn’t reflect in our review of the cottage but maybe something to consider if you rent it out to other families with dogs."

"Lovely property in beautiful, isolated location with unspoilt views of countryside. Well equipped kitchen- everything you could need including mixer, blender, good coffee machine- a home from home. Needs a little TLC in some areas- one shower had obviously leaked as lino in bathroom was lifting at corner next to shower cubical. Tastefully decorated bedrooms, all linen of good quality. Could do with a handrail for steps to ground floor bathroom if you have older relatives with you. Good value would definitely use again."

"Our second visit. House is beautifully presented and in an idyllic spot. Very well equipped, except for a hairdryer which we seem to think is now standard. The games room is a great time waster and the walk to the Henny Swan pub is lovely, especially on the bridle way."

"We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my father's and grandson's birthday at Old Applecroft Farmhouse. There was plenty of room and we found the house to be tastefully decorated and well equipped. Views are wonderful and location lovely and quiet. Our only negative is that we thought more attention could be given to the outside of the house, leaves covered the approaching steps making them slippery and gutters were filled with weeds, we do appreciate that it was mid winter. We must book in summer next time to experience the changing scenery."

"We found the cottage well equipped and clean and it certainly met our needs. Before we went we had read some of the previous comments and we began to wonder about our choice. The single mile long track to the cottage was mainly tarmac or concrete and in a reasonable state and i’m Wondering why others mentioned it in their reviews. The track was wide enough to get a transist van down there without getting any scratches. The only issue is the bedroom with no curtains or blind. The biggest compliment would be to say we would use this cottage again."

"This a great house for family get togethers where plenty of space (inside and out) is essential. Although only a short drive from Sudbury you feel quite remote, with lots of open views across the large grounds which are great if you are taking a four legged friend or children with too much energy to burn! Warm and welcoming with pleasant décor this is an easy house to stay in. On the negative side - the beds seem to vary in softness and the pillows were somewhat chunky. If you like soft or feather pillows, like us, you will need to take your own! However this doesn't really detract from the comfort of the house. We've only visited in winter, I would imagine in summer is even better. The only thing missing for us in the winter is a real fire - a wood burner would be a fantastic addition."

"This luxury cottage is beautiful. There were 3 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs for our stay and masses of space!Stunning surroundings, lovely decor and an amazing games room. You have to have a car as the closest shops are at least a 10-15min drive away.Perfect place for families and people with dogs."

"We had some issues with electrics while we stayed at the cottage but overall it was a very enjoyable weekend."
