"Brilliant location and the views were to die for - looking out the window with the sea view. The owner allowed us to start our holiday a few days earlier, which was lovely as we enjoyed so much more of the area as a result. When we rang the owner to confirm our EAT, she told us that she had put on the heating as the temperatures had dropped that day and this was a welcome and unexpected addition. We received a welcome gift that was just perfect for weary and hungry/thirsty travellers. The accommodation was high quality and there were no issues throughout our stay. The main bedroom had an ensuite with a walk in shower, there was also a walk in shower suite in the hallway for the other guests. Each bedroom had a TV facility with built in DVD's. The kitchen was contained with the lounge but there was also cupboards in the hallway which extended the kitchen storage areas. There were plenty of leaflets for visitors to check out locally. We went to Colchester Zoo, which was lovely, we went to the town as well. We visited Manningtree which was a short drive away. We would have liked to have visited the museums but they were shut on Mondays, which was a shame. We visited Morrisons a short drive away for our main meals as well as breakfast on our last morning. We visited several of the beach areas, including the one directly opposite the Annex. Although the weather wasn't brilliant, it was nice. However, I was unable to go onto the beach due to my wheelchair, so apart from my initial visit which ended at the end of the ramp by the beach cafe, I merely looked at the beach from afar on the rest of the visits."

"Our stay at The Annexe was very enjoyable, the property was in a very nice location a short walk along the prom from the town itself and with the beach being just across the road very convenient also. We had a friendly welcome from the owner as well as a very nice welcome pack. We had a very slight problem with the hot water initially but this was resolved within minutes! The Annexe was spotlessly clean with superb facilities throughout and this, as well as being blessed with brilliant weather, made it a wonderful break. Many thanks!"

"I booked this cottage for a week with my elderly mother as we both need a single storey property. The Annexe has easy parking at the front of the property, right outside the front door, so it was very easy to unload luggage and holiday shopping. My mother uses a rollator so the ramp into the property was very useful. The property is absolutely spotlessly clean. Usually I can find at least one spider on holiday but I didn’t find any insects at all (or dirt). Both bedrooms have firm and good mattresses. Sometimes the second bedroom of a property has mattresses that are only really deep enough for children but not the Annexe. The white bed linen and the towels were of high quality and all the bedding was spotlessly clean. The owner told us that if we ran out of towels we should ask for more. In the second bedroom there is a blocked-off, locked connecting door with the owner’s property next door. The owner was very nice, and very approachable, and once we were in the annexe we were left to enjoy ourselves and relax, but it was nice to know that she was on hand to answer any questions if we had any.The Annexe has a reasonable size kitchen for a holiday week, with plenty of pans, mugs, glasses, crockery and utensils. You do not need to take a veg peeler, potato masher or sharp knife. There are also things like an airer, vacuum cleaner, first aid box and fire extinguisher, etc. There are smoke alarms throughout the property. Instructions for the dishwasher are on the inside top of the door. Just choose the programme you want. We only choose the basic No 1 programme. The plates are dishwasher proof, although they don’t have it written on them.On arrival we found a loaf of granary bread, box of chocolates, bottle of red wine, pint of milk and packet of biscuits as a welcome. There were also tea bags, coffee, condiments, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, and bottled water in the bedrooms. There were two wet rooms, (one as an en suite to the master bedroom). These were kitted out with freebie soaps, shower liquids, shower caps, body lotion, cotton wool and tissues, as well as hand wash on the basins. There were clean toilet mats and bath mats. When I used the shower I discovered that I needed to fold the bathmat out of the way of the accumulating water, but the floor soon dried, as the wet rooms were warm. There is central heating, with a control box on the wall opposite the bedrooms. There was a selection of DVDs but we didn’t use any of these, as there is Sky. There are two remotes, both working with each other, to turn the TV and the Sky on. The main one is the Sky remote. There are sun loungers at the front of the property if you want to sit outside but we went out, visiting the area, and didn’t use these. This is a holiday with a quiet pace of life. The seafront and beach is straight across the road from the Annexe, and across the grass area. It was fun sitting in the lounge in the bay window watching the locals jogging or walking their dogs daily, as well as visitors on their bicycles and families on their way to the beach. Watching the windfarm (which doesn’t make any noise) out to sea was fascinating, as they seem to change colour and size when the sun hits them. There is a local sailing club and the little yachts were out from early. The people in the area are very polite and friendly, especially Frinton, which has a lively high street of half chain and half independent shops, and a great selection of restaurants. There is free parking for three hours. You can find all the supermarkets, Costas and Boots, etc.If you get time, visit the as yet unopen and being restored Priory. You can park on the grass outside and the outside is worth a look. The site tells you about this building. There is a Toby Carvey at the Martello Bay area of Clacton (lovely food). This is the wilder coast line of Clacton and it’s worth a look.On Point Clear Road, through St Osyth, you can park at Mill Dam Lake. Children can go on water obstacle courses or learn how to use curve boards (water skiing) at the Curve Board Wakeboarding Centre (maybe adults too). St Osyth Boatyard is opposite. You will need a satnav to negotiate some of the country roads. This is a lovely holiday property and we would be happy to go there again."

"A generous welcome pack for both adults and children and a personal welcome from the owner. A comfortable sitting room with large telly - much appreciated by the children - and having two excellent shower rooms. We enjoyed being so close to the sea and not having to drive far to the many local amenities. Particularly popular were Clacton Pier, Pitch and Putt, swimming at Frinton and following a sculpture trail at Walton-on-the-Naze."

    Steve ‐ 27 Mar 2019
"Had a very comfortable relaxing break at the Annexe. The property is beautifully appointed and maintained and extremely well situated just over the road from the beach. Susan was a wonderful host and we felt very welcome with nothing too much trouble. As I am disabled I appreciated the easy wheelchair access and the thought that has gone into making the accommodation 'disabled friendly'. All in all we can highly recommend the Annexe. We will be back!"
