Tucked away in peaceful countryside on the edge of the Lincolnshire and Rutland border, this beautiful barn retreat is perfectly placed for exploring one of England’s most charming rural areas. Next door to a private residential estate and bordered by open fields and quiet footpaths, it offers the ideal setting for long walks, relaxed countryside living and quality time with family and friends.
The barn sits along a quiet public footpath between the villages of Uffington and Barholm, making it a wonderful base for walkers. From the doorstep you can follow miles of scenic routes through rolling farmland, along hedgerows alive with birdsong and across peaceful rural landscapes. Wildlife is abundant here, with regular sightings of deer, red kites, owls and woodpeckers, while the wide Fenland skies create spectacular sunsets and star-filled nights.
Just four miles away lies the historic market town of Stamford, widely considered one of the most beautiful towns in England. Its honey-coloured stone buildings, cobbled lanes and lively market square are filled with independent shops, cafés, traditional pubs and excellent restaurants. The town is also home to the magnificent Burghley House, one of the grandest Elizabethan houses in the country, set within a vast deer park that hosts events, gardens and scenic walks throughout the year.
The surrounding countryside is rich in heritage and character, dotted with historic villages, ancient churches and country pubs that make perfect stopping points after a long walk. The nearby Fenlands provide wonderfully flat cycling routes, ideal for exploring further afield at a leisurely pace.
The barn itself is a hidden gem, beautifully converted to combine original character with relaxed contemporary comfort. The spacious open-plan layout includes a large kitchen with an Aga, dining table and seating for gathering together, flowing into a cosy living area with comfortable sofas and a wood-burning stove. There is a room adjacent to the living room which contains a table tennis table for guests to use. This provides an additional recreational space within the property and can be enjoyed by guests during their stay. Large arched windows fill the space with natural light and open onto a charming kitchen garden with outdoor seating and a home built charcoal barbecue, in the Summer months you can also enjoy the use of the swimming pool, so don’t forget to pack your swimming towels!
Sleeping up to seven guests across three bedrooms and a loft-style sleeping gallery, the barn is perfect for family reunions, friendship groups and multi-family countryside escapes.

A beautiful place to stay in a really wonderful location. We had such a great week here and felt completely rested by the end of it. All the character and art around the barn was lovely. Comfortable bedrooms with such lovely furniture and the grounds were lovely. Great fun in the pool, it’s refreshing in there! The owner’s daughter and husband were really lovely people, we enjoyed our chats round the grounds on a few occasions. A pizza cutter would come in handy, otherwise the kitchen was well stocked with what we needed. My son reacted to the living room sofas with non-stop sneezing whenever near them, which made it tricky to use this space, anti-histamines helped though, perhaps it was the feather cushions? We would definitely recommend the Barn and would love to return some time.

A beautiful place with amazing surroundings, local food, drinks and supermarkets only 10 minutes drive away. Very quiet and truly a peaceful relaxing time. Plenty of space for the 5 of us and could easily fit more. The parking could fit 3-4 vehicles if necessary possibly more. If you have a car or van wider than the standard 6’6 restriction you will not fit through the second gate.

The barn location is absolutely amazing and the outside of the property is so beautifully, but unfortunately it is due some TLC and a better cleaning service. The pool contained billions of dead flies on arrival, and the pool area has many broken or loose edges. If you have young children, who make lots of noise when playing in the pool this is could be a problem, reference handbook or arrival.Cups and cutlery were filthy. And a lack of utensils and bowls which were later discovered in a fully loaded dishwasher that had not been emptied from the guests before. Stained bath towels, broken chairs and doors. And a host that fails to acknowledge that these standards are not acceptable and the lack of support is below standard.
