Coast Guard Cottage is a quaint and well-decorated property, praised for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and a wood-fired hot tub. While some guests found the location convenient and quiet, others noted its proximity to a busy road. The cottage offers a relaxing stay with a friendly host, though some guests suggested improvements in maintenance and amenities.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be very clean, with particular praise for the interior. However, a few noted issues with outdoor cleanliness and leftover items from previous guests, slightly affecting the score.
Opinions on the location are mixed. Some guests enjoyed the quietness once inside the property and the proximity to a pub and nature reserve, while others were concerned about the busy road and limited local activities.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with cosy sofas and beds, although there were comments about the mattresses being worn and the property potentially feeling cramped with a full occupancy.
The hot tub is a highlight, but there were issues with its operation and temperature control. Some guests mentioned a lack of basic supplies and cleanliness in the kitchen, suggesting room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
There are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, aside from good communication. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

Cottage was cute and cosy however right next to a very busy road. Owners were helpful when we raised some concerns however no welcome pack as other guests had mentioned so could not even have a coffee to warm up on arrival Hot tub not ready on arrival however nice treat once we got it to right temperature. It was a nice break but cottage just could have done with a bit of tlc and little tweaks to make it special.

We’re just back from a weeks break staying at Coastguard Cottage and it was absolutely lovely. After reading reviews a day or two before about the main road I was slightly concerned, and that continued as the satnav announced we were yards away whilst being on a busy A Road. However, as soon as you turn into the side road for the cottage you can easily forget about the main road - It is quiet and far enough away that it doesn’t cause you any disruption at all.The cottage itself is absolutely beautiful and beautifully set out and so homely. The sofas/the bed (only used the main) are all very comfy and the house is warm and cozy with a lovely fireplace and decor throughout. We was only able to try the hot tub for a very short time one evening due to the weather but it did also seem very nice and relaxing. The hosts (Izzy) were amazing with their communication when needed and sent a lovely welcoming message with all information needed for our stay. There isn’t much going on locally within walking distance, due to location but there’s a nice nature reserve across the road (you still need to drive) where we went to walk the dog. The only negative(s) would be for me, for a week a broom/hoover in the cottage would have been great (I guess that’s personal opinion as not everyone wants to be cleaning), there was open food left in cupboards presumably from the last people and a pair of dirty socks left behind the bedroom door.Overall, we would 100% recommend this cottage and stay and had they been doing 2026 bookings we would definitely have rebooked already!Thank you so much for a lovely break!

Unfortunately not what we was expecting after seeing all the glowing reviews. Had a power cut on the first night and zero contact from the number and had to wait until 3am for the lights to come back on. Hot tub was difficult to work. And some bowls and cooking tubs had dirt and grime in them. The wash bowl had melted skittles in it? and there we no sponge. Such a shame wasted half the time trying to sort out items from the kitchen.
