Wake up and set off to the Grade I-listed Heckington Windmill (2.5 miles) to explore the museum and treat yourself to something sweet in the tearoom. On your way home, stop off at your vineyard’s impressive tasting room to sample the wines created on site. Alternatively, head into Sleaford (5.5 miles) to visit The Hub, the UK’s largest exhibition space dedicated to craft and design. Further afield, the National Trust’s Tattershall Castle (17 miles) is a sight to behold. With its huge Gothic fireplaces and church-like windows, it dates to the 15th century and was designed to impress.

Step inside this single-storey Scandinavian-style lodge and you’ll find a surprisingly spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with warm, wood-clad walls. Cook up a storm in the compact kitchen area and host a dinner party at the dining table.
