Haven Lodge was a charming cabin, tucked away in a wooded holiday park. Despite being just 3 miles from Louth, the secluded setting amidst the trees really did feel as if you were worlds away from civilisation. The cabin was warm and cosy, thanks to the air conditioning units, and the spacious living area was snug and comfy, with two large sofas to lounge on. The bathroom container a good-size bath and overbath shower, and the bedroom was homely with lots of storage, and a firm mattress - so we both got a good night's sleep, listening to the rain gently pattering on the roof and window. Nearby, Louth is a pretty town with plenty of independent shops and eateries. The park is about an hour's drive from both Lincoln and Boston, and a half-hour from Skegness, for seaside trips.

The lodge itself was good value, especially as we booked using Tesco vouchers. It’s set quite a way back from the main road and feels a little dark among the trees, but overall it was comfortable and we had no major issues.A few small things could be improved — the can opener was broken, and there were rather a lot of notices and instructions dotted around. The oven symbols had worn off over time, so I had to Google the manual online to figure out which setting was for the fan oven. A simple one-page quick-start guide welcome pack would be much more helpful. The Wi-Fi was on the slow and patchy side but just about good enough for streaming TV.

The lodge was really well turned out and clean, some of the cookware needed washing before use and cutlery and glassware but as the rest of the lodge was so well cleaned it was probably just a slight oversight.
