About this property

Yew Tree Cottage is a charming 18th-century detached cottage in the rural village of Belchford within the Lincolnshire Wolds.

The cottage is believed to be the oldest property in the Belchford, with the Viking Way a 147-mile-long footpath passing through the village and past the front door, with two double bedrooms the cottage is ideal for friends or two couples to explore the great many walking and cycling routes from the door, or just enjoy a relaxing quiet rural stay. The interior of Yew Tree Cottage has classic cottage features throughout, such as the lovely wooden beams and brick fireplace in the sitting room, making it a perfect spot for relaxing on the sofa with a good book by the woodburning stove on those colder evenings. The well-equipped kitchen contains an electric oven, grill and hob, and a microwave, to whip up your best home-cooked meal and serve it in the dining room with its comforting open fire. Make yourself at home by stocking up the fridge/freezer and sticking muddy clothes in the washing machine, found in the handy utility area. Heading upstairs you will find more traditional décor, such as the sloping ceilings and beams in the two quaint but spacious double bedrooms, where you can rest up ready for another day of exploring. Boasting an upstairs bathroom and a ground-floor shower room, guests have the option of a relaxing soak in the corner bath, or use of the convenient walk-in shower after a hike in the elements. Yew Tree Cottage has a pretty back garden with well-established trees and plants, with a pathway leading to a patio area with chairs and table, to enjoy a relaxing drink or alfresco meal in the sun, also within the enclosed garden is space for keeping your bikes. For eating out The Bluebell Inn, a traditional country pub serving good food is just across the road, The Green Man Inn is a short journey away in Scamblesby with village shop for your essentials, the market town of Horncastle is around 5-miles away and is a busier town with a good selection of shops, cafés, pubs, great fish and chips shop and a variety of Antiques shops to while away your day. For a day by the sea, head north east for Mablethorpe, a delightful seaside town with sandy beaches, The Seal Sanctuary Wildlife Centre and plenty of restaurants to choose from, or enjoy fish and chips on the sea front. As well as the historic market town of Louth and Horncastle, you are also within easy reach of Woodhall Spa, Market Rasen and the city of Lincoln, and for those motor racing fans Cadwell Park circuit is just a ten-minute drive away. The welcome pack was an unexpected but nice surprise. The cottage and village of Belchford is perfectly situated for exploring the Wolds with a good village pub just across the road. A very enjoyable stay.

In a central location to visit beaches, Lincoln and the surrounding countryside. The ceilings are quite low but my husband managed to survive with only a few bumps on the head! We would definitely return.
