About this property

Melton Mowbray 3.2 miles. Resting in the peaceful village of Ab Kettleby, Leicestershire is this wonderfully renovated barn conversion, The Cart House. This characterful bolthole is a rare find for a couple seeking a base in which to explore this picturesque part of the countryside, with the hustle and bustle of Leicester’s city centre just a short distance away. The interior enjoys a seamless blend of style and character, with the exposed beams framing the plush furnishings and everything you could possibly need to ensure a great self-catering experience. Look forward to showing off your culinary skills within the sleek kitchen, where you will find all the mod cons and a contemporary breakfast bar, where a glass of wine can be enjoyed whilst dinner simmers on the hob. Once dinner is ready, relish in some quality time with your partner as you tuck into your meal and toast to a wonderful holiday in Leicestershire. Afterwards, relax into the evening by getting cosy on the sofa and flicking on the TV for your evening’s entertainment, or why not use this time to get lost in that book you have been meaning to read? As the evening draws to a close, make your way up the staircase to the mezzanine-style floor, where the elegant interior design has been continued, and snuggle under the crisp white sheets of the super-king-size bed to catch your rest. If you do not feel like cooking one evening, a stone’s throw away is The Sugar Loaf pub, which serve a delicious dining menu, or you could travel slightly further afield to Melton Mowbray, home to a selection of pubs, restaurants, takeaways and shops for picking up any snacks and essentials. Impressively, the town plays host to a number of fantastic food festivals throughout the year, including the Melton Mowbray Food Festival, ChocFest, the UK's PieFest and the largest Artisan Cheese Fair in the country! Other attractions whilst staying here includes catching a film at the Regal Cinema or a play at the local Melton Theatre, or perhaps delve into the town’s past by visiting the Melton Carnegie Museum. If you are feeling more active, explore the vast array of walks, which can be enjoyed from the doorstep of the cottage or head to Rutland Water, where you can try your hand at fishing. A day's afternoon shopping can be had within the city of Leicester, home to the National Space Centre, New Walk Museum and Art Gallery and nearby Bradgate Park, home of Lady Jane Grey. The Cart House is the perfect spot for that long-awaited getaway with your loved one to discover Leicestershire.

Melton Mowbray is a pretty town resting in the county of Leicestershire, just 19 miles away from the city centre. The kitchen had all the basic equipment we required for our holiday. The village is quiet and friendly. Would recommend a stay at The Cart House, this was our 2nd stay. Would recommend a visit to Hilltop Farm shop and cafe, lovely bacon butties.
