No smoking.. Situated in the Leicestershire countryside just outside Melton Mowbray; home of the famous pork pie, is this traditional and spacious one bedroom annex. Located on the owner’s stud farm next to their home where you’ll meet their 4-legged fury family member and if you’re lucky, you may meet the baby foals around April/May. Guests are welcome to walk on the farm track and through the fields that do not have horses in them.
This is an ideal couple’s getaway as you’ll love this quiet and peaceful setting. Glossoms Farm is between the pretty villages of Thorpe Arnold and Scalford and just over 3 miles to the market town of Melton Mowbray with all its amenities including many eateries and shops. It’s also a great area for country walks and cycling. A 20-minute drive will take you to the breath-taking historic Belvoir Castle where you can enjoy the gardens and lakes as well as exploring the castle. There are many attractions accessible from Glossoms Lodge such as The Richard III Visitor Centre in Leicester, RAF Coningsby Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, and the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum at East Kirby. The magnificent 3000-acre Rutland Water can be reached in under half an hour and attracts visitors worldwide to enjoy water sports, bird watching, walking, and cycling. Take a trip aboard the Rutland Belle Cruiser, visit the famous ospreys at Egleton Nature Reserve, or browse around Barnsdale Gardens, designed by the late Geoff Hamilton.
For outdoor pursuits, Twin Lakes, Sherwood Park, Rufford Country Park and Clumber Park are all well worth a day out, or you can enjoy a stroll alongside Grantham Canal with superb walks along the towpath. The market towns of Oakham, Stamford and Grantham are all nearby, and for serious shopping, Nottingham is a must.

The description on how to get there from cottages.com was good for general area, but as one of the signs described for the end of the lane, was no longer there, we were able to contact Sandy to make sure we were in the right place. We used the app what three words the rest of the time to find our way back. Given key and fob for gate onto farm and shown layout of where we would be staying. Lovely. Whilst the double bed was much smaller than we use at home, hubby and I slept well each night. Although warned might be noises from horses on one of the mornings, we were not disturbed by any external noise at any time during our stay. The place nicely laid out. Two sofas more than enough space to relax. Kitchen well equipped. Bathroom and shower over bath with limited water pressure, but again we have a super shower at home, so this was very different and theirs did work well enough to feel refreshed after. Overall would try to stay again if we were coming to the area another time

We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Glossoms Lodge. The accommodation has everything you need to make a holiday complete. The friendly owners are there to help, if necessary, but are discreet. We would 100% recommend Glossoms Lodge for a peaceful and comfortable stay with interesting places in the area to visit, for example Stamford, Oakham and beautiful Rutland Waters (walking, cycling, fishing).

A warm welcome and lovely hosts who were friendly and helpful. Spacious cottage with a generous welcome pack and lots of extra touches to make our stay comfortable and homely. The kitchen was one of the biggest we have had in a holiday cottage. Excellent location and nearby facilities. Melton Mowbray has a wide range of shops and is within easy reach. Pretty villages nearby also and wonderful local pubs. The approach to the cottage is a bumpy single track off a main road as it is on a working farm. However, it was easy to find and we managed to have a supermarket delivery. Despite being next to the owners’ house, the setting is private and relaxing, with plenty of parking. We would definitely stay here again. One suggested improvement would be a larger bed as we are used to King Sized rather than Double.
