Guests say

Field Lodge - E4380 is a peaceful and cosy cottage in Swadlincote, praised for its amazing location, quietness, and beautiful views. Guests enjoyed comfortable beds and a spacious living area, with some recommending local attractions and eateries. While some updates and maintenance are suggested, the value and countryside charm are appreciated.

The property is described as neat and tidy, with a musty smell noted by one guest that was resolved by airing out the space. Cleanliness appears satisfactory, but there is room for improvement, particularly in the bathroom.

The location is highly praised for its quietness, great views, and proximity to local attractions. However, one guest mentioned difficulty in finding the property, which slightly impacts the score.

Guests found the beds very comfortable and the living area spacious. The peaceful environment contributed to a good night's sleep, although some furnishings were suggested to need updating.

Facilities are adequate with some issues noted, such as the need for more oven trays, no oven mitts, and some maintenance needed in the bathroom. The absence of WiFi is mentioned, but the signal for tethering is decent.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches provided by the host that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

Amazing location and lodge. Lovely interior with spacious living room area. Lovely and quiet on a night with great views during the day. No WiFi, but decent signal if you want to 'tether' to your phone. Fairly close to some amazing activities (Conkers, local pubs etc).Highly recommended.

A lovely little lodge set in a very peaceful place. Some things like the sofas & the riles in the bathroom could do with an update but it did not affect our stay there. Beds were very comfy, slept like logs! This lodge is really good value for money & I would definately recommend it to anyone wanting a few days away from it all.

It was difficult to find they give a postcode that takes you to the wrong place and there was no answer when I tried to call the owner for directions. Anyway we did find it eventually but weren't that impressed when we arrived. The lodge is very tired and needs quite a bit of TLC. There is also no WiFi but luckily my friend could share his data with me. There was a musty smell so we opened all the windows to air the place. Have to say it was quite neat and tidy and relatively clean. The locks on the windows are not very secure and need updating. Bare minimum facilities but we found everything we needed thankfully. There is only one bathroom which certainly needs improving. Looks like the shower screen has been leaking for some time by the look of the staining on the pine on the side of the bath and there is a build up of mould on the grout between the tiles. The pressure of the shower was ok but the water wasn't hot enough. The heated towel rail was good though. The cupboard by the sink but very useful open shelves would be much better. The light in the cooker hood didn't work but the cooker worked fine. The lodge is on a working farm (although we never saw any activity whilst we were at the lodge) so we weren't exactly expecting it to be perfect and they do have some really lovely views across the fields with sheep nearby and apple and pear trees loaded with fruit. We enjoyed a lovely alfresco lunch it is a wonderful countryside location. If you are after a quiet time away from it all sort this is certainly it. Very good value too but probably better if improvements. I think I've been spoilt in the past by the deluxe lodge we used for many years by Lakeview Lake fishery in Moira which has an ensuite in both bedrooms. Sadly they are no longer available to rent for short stays at they says going to rent the lodge out for offices. They do still have the lovely cafe which we went to on Saturday morning. Well worth a visit.
