About this property

Delver Cottage is a super cottage with its really comfortable accommodation and brilliant location in the heart of the little market town of Wirksworth that has a growing reputation for tourism and the arts. Jumbles of cottages, secret little alleyways and sleepy cats on aubretia clad walls sum up the cottage's quiet backwater setting.

Yet it's just a minute's stroll down into the town where you will find village shops, traditional pubs, good restaurants, the Northern Lights little cinema and the heritage trail on which to relive lead mining days of old. Follow your nose to the local bakery in the morning. Le Mistral is our favourite restaurant. The Fish Bar, Balti and Chinese are perfect for takeaway meals.

Lots of lovely walks radiate from the cottage, with fascinating industrial heritage to explore, or perhaps catch a heritage train on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. If you tire of the Wirksworth area there is all the Peak District to see. Treats to mention back home include Monsal Dale's wonderful waterfalls, Chatsworth House's majesty, Matlock Bath's little Switzerland gorge, breathless bike rides along the High Peak Trail and the water sport spills of Carsington Water.

Cottage facilities:

An attractive lounge with luxurious suite, T.V., DVD, Freeview, WiFi and log flame effect electric fire. A lovely dining room with oak table, settle and matching bench. A superb kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and automatic washer. The traditional stairs lead to the 'Derbyshire Landing' with twin beds and views over the rooftops of the town. An adjoining bedroom with double bed and similar views. A fantastic bathroom with bath, separate shower and W.C.

Linen and towels are provided. Central heating and power are included. The cottage is not suitable for children under eight years, except babes in arms, because of the stairs and landing. There is an attractive terrace with furniture looking over the town. Parking for one medium size car is available together with other spaces on the lane nearby. Pets and smoking in the cottage are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.

Weekly bookings are normally from Friday to Friday but short breaks are available throughout the year.
