About this property

95 The Hill is a 200 year old grade 2 listed mid-terrace cottage, perfectly positioned within the historic village of Cromford, part of which is designated as a World Heritage Site and resting on the edge of the Peak District National Park with a multitude of sign posted walks heading in all directions from the back door. Located between Wirksworth and Matlock Bath and within striking distance of a plethora of things to see and do, this cottage is ideal for families, friends or couples seeking an action-packed break to this part of Derbyshire. Boasting three floors of contemporary elegance, combined with the property’s original features and modern conveniences, you and your loved ones will be delighted to call this home for a while. Enter the sitting room, where the woodburning stove set in the original fireplace takes centre stage, before the elegant Chesterfield sofa and armchairs, where you can look forward to kicking back and relaxing after a long walk, with the fire setting the ambiance and filling the room with warmth during the winter months. Once you’ve caught your rest, step across the Original tiled floor to discover the kitchen, where the flag-stone floor complements the sleek kitchen units and the range of quality appliances are certain to encourage a spot of home-cooking! Afterwards, regroup with your loved ones at the dining table, where you can relish in some quality catch up time or if you are visiting during the summer months, head out to the rear patio, where table and chairs offer an alternative dining arrangement. As the evening draws to a close, climb the staircase to find the family bathroom and savour a moment of relaxation by taking a soak in the bath before finding your sleeping spot. On the first floor, there is a double bedroom, where exposed beams frame the space and quality linens drape across the sumptuous bed, whilst upstairs you will find a plush super king-size bedroom and ensuite with WC and basin, with the original fireplace and feature brick wall, as well as a Smart TV, which is ideal for those lazy Sunday mornings in bed. Better acquaint yourself with your surroundings as you stroll through the village, where you will be delighted to find a variety of restaurants, pubs and shops or take a guided tour of Arkwright's Cromford Mill to learn about the restoration work in progress. Venture slightly further afield to the delightful Matlock Bath, where you will find a wide range of shops and places to eat, as well as the theme park of Gulliver's Kingdom and Heights of Abraham, a hilltop park reached by cable car with walking trails and cavern tours. Afterwards, find yourself in the town of Matlock, where there are further places to eat and drink or don your walking boots to explore the walk along the canal from Cromford Wharf to High Peak Junction or endeavour on the Derwent Valley Heritage Trail. The Peak District National Park is also within striking distance and plays host to more walking opportunities, and is where you will find the attractions of Hidden Druids Caves, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Bakewell and Buxton are also within driving distance of the cottage, as is Black Rocks, which is an outcrop of Ashover grit, which is reached by a steep climb and has breath-taking views. Bring your loved ones to 95 The Hill to share a memorable holiday.

The village of Cromford is set in the wooded gorge of the River Derwent and surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs, set just 3 miles away from Matlock. The village is famous for its connections with Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade, and often referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. Within the town itself, you will find a selection of quality pubs, shops and cafés, as well as Arkwright’s Cromford Mill and canal, a world heritage site.
