Quiet, peaceful and romantic places don't come much better than this! Watermill Cottage is a charming little hideaway in a secret little valley right by the side of a brook as it splashes its way down the hillside. Its nicely decorated and furnished accommodation and its extensive decked area above the stream make it a super holiday retreat on the edge of Tansley village near Matlock.

If you get up early and have breakfast by the stream you might see the kingfisher dabbling in the pond. Laze away a sunny afternoon and wait for the family of ducks to come visiting from the dam down below. Be quiet when you walk back along the country lane from the Gate Inn in the village because you might disturb the badgers in their sett!!

The moment you get there you will want to be off exploring the lovely country lanes or perhaps wander down to the village with its three great pubs. Matlock with its shops, restaurants and riverside park is just a few minutes' drive away. Peak Rail's steam trains will take you up the Derwent Valley towards Chatsworth House and Bakewell. Then all the wonderful Peak District will open up in front of your eyes.

Cottage facilities:

An attractive little lounge with cottage sofa, T.V. DVD and views out over the stream. A well fitted dining kitchen with table, chairs, hob, oven, microwave and fridge. A nice shower room with shower and W.C. A narrow spiral staircase leads downstairs to a second sitting area and an attractive double bedroom with pine furniture and similar views.  

Linen and towels are provided. Storage heating, fuel and power are included. A cot and high chair can be requested. There is an extensive decked area with furniture right by the stream.  Parking for two cars is available. Pets and smoking are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult. Bookings are from Friday to Friday.

Short breaks are available throughout the year.
