Guests say

Lady Pond Retreat is a well-received cottage offering a peaceful location, ample space, and a hot tub. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, comfortable beds, and the thoughtful touches like provided condiments and a welcome bottle of wine. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness oversights are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests willing to return.

The property generally receives praise for its cleanliness, with clean bedding and towels. However, some guests noted dust, cobwebs, and occasional unclean items, which slightly mar the overall impression. The hot tub is cleaned regularly, which is a positive aspect.

The location is described as peaceful and convenient, close to local attractions like Alton Towers and Ashbourne. The rural setting and proximity to farms add to the charm. However, the lack of mobile signal is a drawback for some.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the property spacious. The presence of a breeze during hot weather is appreciated. Some issues with winter duvets being too hot and a broken bed are noted, but overall, the comfort level is high.

The property is well-equipped with kitchen amenities, two hot tubs, and ample storage. However, there are reports of maintenance issues like blocked drains, broken showers, and unreliable Wi-Fi. The fishing pond access and some appliances also need attention.

While guests mention thoughtful touches like condiments and a welcome bottle of wine, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collection of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.

The barn conversion at Lady Pond retreat was very comfortable. Great that there was so much crockery and cutlery etc. Pull out sofa bed in the living room, was not ideal, but it was stated on the sykes bumf. Should be marketed as a 3 bed though sleeping 6 ppl. Hot tub was a lovely bonus! Welcome bottle of wine and biccies and milk were very thoughtful!

We cooked Christmas dinner on the Saturday but the oven wasn’t working properly. Only half of it seemed to be heating properly. We managed by rotating the turkey constantly. There’s a lamp broken in the twin bedroom and a broken tv in the double room. We couldn’t switch on the radiator in the twin bathroom either? A rail would be useful to hold onto going up and down into the property? It was a damp weekend and quite slippy. On the plus side there were plenty of towels as we were struggling to dry the ones we’d used. Perfect accommodation for our Christmas get together. Would definitely recommend. Thanks very much.

Just take into mind you have two sets of stairs to go up to get in, but both are good. My dad managed with his stick. Very large accomidation, we were a group of 5. Able to book to start the holiday on a Sunday, which suited our plans.
