A lovely clean and roomy cottage, with comfy beds and plenty of outdoor seating. A lovely welcome pack awaited us too, a nice touch. Loads of crockery and cutlery, nice big table, and lovely range for cooking. We had a full week of hot weather, (very lucky) and the cottage mostly stayed cool, upstairs got quite warm though for night time. There are some nice walks from the door. We walked along to Hardwick Estate, lovely walk around the gardens and visited the house. Also up to St John's Church, visited on Saturday and had a lovely chat with the knowledgeable couple who offered, drinks and cake. Only downside was the noise from the motorway, a constant hum, but it didn't spoil our stay. We visited Sherwood Forest, Heights of Abraham and the National Tramway Museum. Shame Stainsby Mill wasn't open while we were there, we'd have loved to have a look around. Overall we had a very nice stay. Thank you to the hosts, it was nice reading about the history of the cottage too, and lovely that it's still in the same family.

cottage is really lovely great garden for dogs spacious house brilliant for large families or small groups.nicely appointed with a large kitchen. In a very secluded location.not a short walk to the pub as described quite a trek or a short car journey. shops are all a distance as well. The property has a few small things that could use updating but nothing that would spoil your visit, WiFi is not great and TV is WiFi only. drains were slow to drain.but all in all this was a lovely place to stay and we had great visit. They left milk and some goodies on our arrival which was greatly appreciated.would absolutely recommend.

Excellent all round. Only slight downside is that it's very near the motorway M1 so you have a constant low rumble. In the garden when conversing you don't hear it though. Wonderful bird life in garden, very comfortable beds (and I am very fussy!), very clean throughout, well equipped kitchen with very large gas cooker and electric ovens. Three toilets (one up the four stairs in ensuite, one the other end in the boot porch room, one upstairs in the main bathroom. Showers pretty good. Would recommend it. You could quite comfortably have three couples and two kids/teenagers here (though we were just two adults who liked our own space). Lots of things to see and do nearby, especially national trust and English heritage as well as the wonderful car museum at Ambergate near Belper. Quite near Morrisons, Aldi etc. Easy to pack in visits to places at least two per day. There's a deep ditch/dry stream at the end of the garden so you'll d have to watch little kids but mostly it's sort of naturally fenced off with bushes. Easy access into a short drive with a normal smallish hatchback (there's a gate). Parking for four cars (just). Plenty of space for one car to turn round. Difficult to find fault with it really
