About this property

A first class apartment located on the high street in the pretty market town of Barnard Castle. Set over three floors, this beautifully-renovated apartment is a real delight and provides the perfect location for that much-deserved romantic break, just a short walk from the many amenities of this popular town. Guests will find an unusual layout with the main living area set over the first floor, providing interesting views of the ancient Market Cross. The utility/storage area and access is from ground floor level, whilst the two bedrooms, a king-size double and twin with en-suite are located on the first floor, with a separate shower room being located on the second floor. Individually styled with many of the old features of this delightful apartment, the sitting room boasts panelled walls and modern furniture, and is bathed in a lovely light from the feature windows, the perfect place to relax after a long day. There are so many ways to enjoy the town that once you’ve parked up the car, you won’t need it during your stay. Visit the nearby Bowes Museum with its colourful collection of European art, browse the bustling weekly market or spend time in the one of the many pubs and local eateries set on the doorstep of this lovely holiday home. There are lots of things to see and do, including the breathtaking High Force, England's highest waterfall, and a wealth of history waiting to be discovered at the fantastic Raby Castle, whilst the stunning Witham Hall, in the centre of Barnard Castle, and Egglestone Abbey, an abandoned monastery on the banks of the River Tees, both sit just outside the town. Within short drives are the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the historic North Yorkshire market towns of Richmond and Ripon, the Stang Forest, the Northern Dales town of Reeth, the city of Durham, and even the Lake District, making this excellent property a superb base for touring the many delights of this historic area.

The market town of Barnard Castle is situated in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep with The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, and the River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are all within easy reach.

The Flat was a real home from home and quite quirky which was lovely. Felt so warm and welcoming. The owner has put a great deal of thought into welcoming visitors by providing a bespoke welcome pack taking into account your needs and also provided dressing gowns which were another lovely touch. We enjoyed it so much that whilst there we have booked another week next year!!

The flat was everything we hoped for, and more. The photos don’t do it justice. Very warm, clean and spacious, with everything you would need provided. A home from home. The properties location was perfect to see everything BC has to offer, with places to eat, drink and shop on the doorstep, as well as the Castle and the Bowes museum only short walks away. Parking is a two minute walk away, and the parking permit meant one less thing to worry about. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch, tailored to our requirements, as were the dressing robes, which was much appreciated. We will certainly be returning to the flat in the near future. Thank you Mel & Adrian for a fantastic and relaxing stay.

Welcome basket a kind bonus. Flat in great position for exploring the quirky town. Barnard Castle full of independent shops as well as usual supermarkets. Bose museum a great place to visit, as was Low Falls north of BC. Lots of walks from the flat. Next door Indian restaurant with delicious food. Thank you!
