Let me start by saying we had a really great week here and would go again. We attended as an extended family with 4 kids aged 7mths - 7 years. The kids had a great time exploring the area (under supervision). The immediate back garden is fenced off with a style leading down to the carp lake with a climbing frame on the offside out of view of the cottage. We didn't catch any but did see them rising at dusk and they did look quite a size. The owners are happy for you to fish the lake. The back garden had a large 6 person hot tub which the kids made full use of. The cottage is clearly very old and quite quirky with uneven floors and differing levels. All of the ground floor consisted of stone floors along with the main stair case with oversized steps which our 2 year old found a little daunting. Each main room down stairs had a wood burning stove and to be fair the owners supplied quite a lot of wood to get us going and the fires certainly heated the place up. The kitchen was well appointed with new or near new appliances etc. The venue is peaceful and calm (especially after kids bedtime). We found the broadband quite poor and when we did get a signal the bandwidth was tiny and often dropped out (to be fair the owners warn about this on their web page. This was not a problem for most of us with the exception of my son in law whose business is internet based, (still he had more time to spend with the kids). Civilisation in the form of supermarkets, shops are only 15 minutes away. The ceilings especially at doorways with the differing levels can be low and every now and again the word 'ow' could be heard as one of us forgot to duck. All in all we had a great stay and would recommend Lake House but maybe not for young toddlers as stone floors and oversize steps are a little difficult to negotiate.

Booking with Blue Chip was simple. Payments were streamlined, and everything organised without any fuss! The house was beautiful, and the location was idyllic. It was a very relaxing experience and I would definitely return there. We had a very mixed age group with us, none the less all our needs were catered for! All in all, great company to book with, fantastic house and amazing holiday!

This was the second time we had stayed at Lake House. We returned because we love the remote location, the house is perfect for us with large kitchen and huge dining room. The two large sitting rooms enables us to have one for quiet activities and the other for the television and videos. The bedrooms and numerous well appointed bathrooms are all positioned so that no one has an adjoining wall and with small children waking early others are not disturbed. The fenced garden is ideal and safe for the children. We enjoyed the hot tub this time as we visited in May this year. It was not commissioned in April last year. Easy parking, long walks and many places to visit if you want to leave. But we were busy on and around the lake this year on the small boat and fishing for Carp which were around 8 to 15 lbs. Obviously we will be booking again. The staff are very helpful and kept us stocked with logs for the log burner at night. Our two dogs love that bit especially. Our dogs are only allowed in the hallway and dining area but for potential visitors without dogs the house is immaculate with no evidence dogs have stayed there. Devon heaven for us as a large family. Thank you Nikki for all your help.
