About this property

Very comfortable cottage offering delightful river views and ideal for exploring the diverse countryside made famous by Henry Williamson in his classic novel 'Tarka the Otter'

Located in an elevated position, amid the character, part cobbled lanes of the Elizabethan port town of Bideford.  Tarka View is an attractive, well-appointed character end terrace cottage quietly situated with no vehicular access and with views over the River Torridge. Being the owner's own home outside of the season the property is very well appointed and furnished in a contemporary cottage style whilst retaining many of the original character features.

Steps lead up to the cottage and the door opens into a spacious open plan living and dining area.  Cosy settees surround a feature stone fireplace(non working) and with a bay window offering river views out over the front terrace.  The dining area has a large table for memorable dining with family and friends and a woodburner for the cooler evenings.  The quality country style cream kitchen is at the rear of the cottage offering a full range of equipment.  A rear door and steps leads up to a fully enclosed small rear patio and access to utility area. On the first floor a double room at the front of the cottage is great for watching the eb and flow of the river and a twin bedroom at the rear has a nautical theme.  The attractive front decked patio is an ideal retreat at the end of a day exploring both coast and countryside.  All the amenities of this riverside town are within a few minutes walk. The surfing beach at Westward Ho! or the estuary beach and water sports centre at Instow are each just a 10 minute drive.  The cottage is close to the Tarka Trail offering 38 miles of car free cycleways and footpaths following the trail of Tarka the Otter made famous in Henry Williamsons classic novel (cycle hire at discount prices available through the owner). Many further attractions can be found within 30 minutes drive which will suit both young and old alike including The Big Sheep, RHS Garden Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and The Milky Way.
