About this property

Barley House sits at the end of the row and is accessed via a wide, gently sloping paved path. Inside is a light-filled open-plan living area with big glazed doors to the pretty front terrace. The cottage has three bedrooms, a ground-floor double bedroom with access to a shower-room and two further first floor bedrooms, a double with en suite bathroom and a twin (zip-linkable to 6' double) with en suite shower-room, both have handsome beams to the apex. Outside you'll find a little seating area and attractive gravelled terrace adorned with potted plants and pleached trees, and you are of course welcome to use the extensive lawns and grounds.

Ottery St Mary sits beside the River Otter and is well known for its literary connections to the poet Coleridge and for its beautiful church often referred to as a Exeter cathedral lookalike. Ottery St Mary is also famous for its traditional 'Tar Barrels' which attracts more than 3000 visitors on 5th November each year.

Its a fabulous cottage, very comfortable and well equipped and we hosted 9 for for dinner most nights (inc Christmas) very comfortably. The grounds are lovely and its nice for a quick dog walk around the village which is on the doorstep. Well positioned for trips to the coast in around 30 mins, golf course, posh farm shop and garden centre. Diana, the host was super helpful but unobtrusive...thank you for a fabulous trip, will will indeed return.

Such a comfortable place to stay, lots to do locally and the cottage is very well appointed. The grounds are very well maintained. We will definitely return.

Our little grandson who lives in London particularly enjoyed the little walks in the grounds and the little wooded area. Very welcoming hosts too.
