… 4 miles from Colyton, deep in thick, lush hedgerow lanes in the Coly Valley, is the sleepy hamlet of Northleigh, 5 to 7 miles from the lovely coastal villages of Beer, Sidmouth and Branscombe. On the edge of Northleigh, three cottages converted from traditional Devon barns on a small mixed farm raising beef, free range poultry and a few piglets. An acre of lawn for energetic ball games or just sitting under a shading cherry tree and enjoying gorgeous rural views. Shared laundry room (washing machine, tumble drier, freezer) and games barn (table tennis, ½-sized snooker table, darts, table football) which can be adapted into a big dining room for special occasions, by arrangement. Ducks on the pond, cobblestones in the courtyard, a soppy dog and dignified cat make this an utterly charming place to stay, unwind and enjoy a friendly, rural idyll.
Battens: door from courtyard to open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave) with TV/DVD and glazed doors at the back to patio (table/chairs) and the shared lawn. Ground-floor twin bedroom with en suite loo. Stairs up to two more bedrooms – a double, and one with two singles; bathroom (suite, shower over bath).
