Snaptrip says

South Hill Farmhouse is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its spaciousness, well-stocked kitchens, and suitability for large groups. The property's charm and character, alongside its ample outdoor space and games room, contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The proximity to Stow on the Wold and the enclosed garden are appreciated, although the busy nearby road is noted. Overall, guests report a positive experience, often highlighting the property's ability to cater to a wide age range and the convenience of multiple bathrooms.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found the property to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments about insects and cobwebs. The property appears to be kept to a high standard of cleanliness, as evidenced by the positive remarks.

The location is generally well-regarded due to its proximity to Stow on the Wold and the availability of local walks. However, the busy main road adjacent to the property has been a concern for some guests, affecting the ease of access and the tranquillity of the garden area.

Guests consistently report a high level of comfort, with numerous positive comments about the cosy atmosphere, the ample indoor and outdoor space, and the suitability of the property for large groups. The presence of multiple lounges and a games room adds to the overall comfort.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchens and the games room. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a non-operational Aga, heating problems, and a need for better garden fencing. These issues slightly detract from an otherwise positive assessment of the facilities.

While some guests mentioned a welcome pack, there is insufficient information to determine the consistency or quality of these gifts, and as such, it cannot be guaranteed that such gifts will be provided. Therefore, a score cannot be accurately assigned to the thoughtfulness category.

About this property

South Hill Farmhouse (22) is an enormous Grade Two Listed holiday home capable of accommodating up to 22 people in spacious surroundings. Once a local farmhouse, the property has been converted to provide 11 bedrooms and a wealth of bathrooms making it perfect for large family or group gatherings looking to enjoy the Cotswolds and Stow on the Wold. The owners have ensured that all elements for a large party have been considered: a large Dining Room , vast Living Room and a separate games room make it perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable break. The house is located on the Fosse Way, (this is the infamous main road between Cirencester and Stow)approx 5 mins from the heart of the heart of the market town of Stow on the Wold. The quality touches are evident throughout - Farrow and Ball colours, Robert Welch cutlery and Denby crockery all add to the appeal of this large holiday home. An excellent choice for a memorable get-together. (N.B. Details of extra activities available at the farmhouse at bottom of description.)

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum.

There were no tea towels in the kitchen and this was our biggest frustration over the weekend. The property is a little worn and well lived in, but it's comfortable and clean. My biggest issue with this overall booking was the difficulty in speaking with anybody to discuss our reservation ahead of our stay. I was desperately hoping to organise an early check in, was more than willing to be accommodating for how this might work (appreciating check outs and preparing the property), but trying to speak to anyone on the phone was impossible. The customer service when trying to accommodate the request to speak to someone was unhelpful and dismissive, it would take them days to respond to my queries and as a new representative was picking up would have to start the query all over again- their system does not log your previous enquiry. On the day of our reservation I received a voicemail from a very chirpy representative- the property was ready and we could check in from 2pm. Not particularly helpful when it's currently 1.30pm you've got 20 people arriving from all corners of the country and you yourself have a 3hour journey ahead. If you are looking to book this property, please be mindful of check-in times and the ability to liaise with anyone about your reservation ahead of time.

The luxurious welcome pack was much appreciated too! The accommodation is just perfect with space for everyone to enjoy but a cosy welcoming feel throughout. The boot room/foyer was a great asset for all our walking equipment, coats etc. Our evenings were extra special in the lounge, playing family games around the impressive log burner, after enjoying the very sociable dining room. It was lovely to be able to all eat together every evening. The enclosed garden was much appreciated by the children and the dogs and the games room was an absolute hit! With country walks from the door and close proximity to Stow town centre, South Hill Farmhouse was the perfect base to explore the area. Thank you so much for a fabulous week. Sandy

The house was perfect to bring friends or family together. It is a short walk to Stow on the Wold although to leave the house the road can be very busy to cross to reach the pavement on the opposite side. We didn’t use the garden because wrong time of year but it is huge and would be great in the summer! The house was warm on arrival with a lovely welcome box with local produce. Great stay.
