About this property

Wadham Cottage is every bit your classic Cotswold cottage, with a history dating back hundreds of years. Wadham Cottage is a charming property set within a traditional terrace of 18th century Cotswold cottages, situated centrally in the very attractive village of Bourton on the Water. A delightful and cosy cottage retaining many of its original features, including beams, doors and a Farmington Fireplace in the sitting room. The cottage is ideal for a couple or small family to enjoy the village and explore the local area. A perfect bolt-hole to sample The Cotswolds.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery.

Parking on-site can be tricky, especially for larger or wider cars, due to the narrow access lane, but there are plenty of parking spaces available nearby in the town. The sofas are quite small, suited for very petite people, and the stairs are challenging, so be mindful of your head. However, these quirks add to the cottage’s charm. The only thing we felt was missing was tea or coffee provided; after a long 4-hour drive, it would have been nice to not have to go out for supplies immediately.

Amazing cottage right in the centre of the village. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. Stayed in the village several times this is by far the best cottage yet. Have family in bourton who we visit at least twice yearly . Will definitely book this again. Furnishing is lovely. Very cosy and warm. Plenty of room. It's the whole package. Beams beautiful windows. Only drawback for me was feather cushions ect I'm allergic but didn't impact my stay.
