About this property

Nestled in the charming village of Blockley, sits this stylish three-bedroom property, Green Pump Cottage; the perfect rural retreat for a family or group of friends surrounded by lovely English countryside.

Be welcomed into the bright and open living/dining room, which provides a tranquil space for you and your loved ones to curl up on the inviting sofas whilst watching a film, surrounded by original features such as Cotswold stone flooring and an open fire with slabbed hearth and wooden surround, which keeps the whole room toasty.

A unique Cotswold stone wall with a viewing window sits adjacent to two steps which lead you into the kitchen, where you can cook delicious meals using the contemporary facilities, before dining around the wooden table or enjoy your meal alfresco style in the lovely patio area in the garden which sits next to the green water pump – where the property gets its name! - with a charcoal barbecue available to make use of on warmer days.

When night falls, delight in a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles in the bath before heading to one of the three well-presented and welcoming bedrooms; a double on the first-floor and a double and single on the second-floor.

Green Pump Cottage is situated in the peaceful village of Blockley, a picturesque village with a country pub, The Great Western Arms, a historic Norman church, Church of St Peter and St Paul, and the popular community owned shop and café which serves delicious food during the day and hosts a couple of dinner evenings too.

Surrounded by wonderful countryside, there are many walks and cycle routes on Blockley’s doorstep including footpaths to the nearby market towns of Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh; in Chipping Campden you can start your day with a delicious breakfast at Campden Coffee Co before heading over to Dover’s Hill to enjoy the stunning views over the Vale of Evesham where you can join the Cotswold Way, which is a 100-mile walking trail, taking you through picturesque villages, breath-taking countryside and famous ancient sites and finish off your day with a heart-warming meal at The Swan in Broadway – the second stop on Cotswold Way!

Make your way over to the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold where you can take a walk around the market square, which is the heart of the community and offers boutique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, as well as the Farmers’ Market which occurs every second Thursday of each month, featuring inviting local produce. Visit the Fosse Gallery to admire an array of contemporary British art, indulge in a bite to eat and drinks at The Stag at Stow, or revel in the scrumptious tea and cakes and cream tea at The Old Bakery Tea Room.

You and your loved ones will have a fantastic time staying at Green Pump Cottage.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.

Good value for money. Key for us were location, ability for 6 people to stay, cleanliness and possible for one person partially disabled. All were met. For large groups staying there would need to consider that there’s one bathroom, no dishwasher. For disabled people the staircase is quite steep but possible with care. We were fine with these. Location is great to explore.

It is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and we slept well in the village .we needed a bit of help with the heating but called them and it was sorted straight away . Would stay again!

Just a small welcome is always very appreciated can also be a personal letter. Wifi was not working perfect, coming and going. Just 2 toilets rolls for 9 days for 4 persons. The first night we found an insect in one of the beds. Ikea cheapest cutlery all different ones and also the plates No frying pan for eggs and bacon. Kitchen Cupboards hydraulic need to be changed as the door does not remain open. Noise coming form the roof the last floor, as there would be mouses running around, very disturbing.
