Slightly further afield is the stunning market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, which is steeped in history, and is thought to have been founded in the 11th century on the site of an Iron Age settlement; the town was originally named Stow St. Edward or Edwardstow, after a Saxon missionary who lived as a hermit at the town's well, and you can discover more information about this by making a visit to St Edward’s Church.

Heading south from Northleach will bring you to the bustling market town of Cirencester, where you can visit the array of shops along the Market Place and brush up on some history at Corinium Museum which shows impressive Roman artifacts that have been well-preserved.

Had to mark down due to a dirty, unusable kettle upon our arrival so for the first night had to boil water in a saucepan to make cuppas. And on two occasions had no hot water due to a problem with the boiler. But we alerted the owner to the kettle and the no hot water and she sent someone out to fix it and provide a new kettle, first thing the next day. And also on the second time. The owner was very helpful and quick to sort issues. The stain glass windows in the living room and main bedroom, are absolutely beautiful and the whole property is furnished to a high standard. It is full of character and we would definitely love to stay again!
