The historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, which is located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, dates back to Neolithic times and has over 100 structures that are Grade II listed or higher. Bourton-on-the-Water is renowned as the Venice of the Cotswolds because of its scenic high street, which runs alongside the River Windrush, which is crossed by several low stone bridges. According to tradition, a summer football match is held in the River Windrush, with the banks lined with fans, with the purpose of scoring as many goals as possible while getting as wet as possible!
