Snaptrip says

Argus Cottage in Pendeen, Penzance, is highly praised for its stunning location with great views, cleanliness, and a peaceful atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped and maintained property, the warm welcome, and the thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper. Some minor issues with noise and woodlice are mentioned, but these do not detract from the overall exceptional experience.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as spotless and very clean. There is a single mention of woodlice, but this seems to be an isolated concern rather than a common problem.

The location is consistently described as outstanding, with breathtaking sea views and a peaceful setting. It is considered remote yet accessible, adding to the charm and uniqueness of the experience.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. However, some guests noted that recent refurbishments made the cottage less cosy than before, and there were comments about thin walls and noise from adjacent properties.

Facilities are generally praised for being well-appointed and high-quality. However, there are some concerns about maintenance issues such as the boiler and dishwasher, and suggestions for improvements like adding hooks and better waste separation.

The thoughtfulness of the host is evident in the welcome hamper and the property's presentation. While the hamper is mentioned positively, it is important to note that such gifts are a kind gesture and may vary, not being a guaranteed feature.

About this property

This comfortable cottage is situated on the Pendeen Lighthouse site, on a majestic granite headland. It provides a hall, double bedroom with limited sea views, single bedroom, sitting room with sea views, kitchen, dining room and bathroom.

In association with Trinity House, we are proud to present Argus Cottage at Pendeen Lighthouse.

Argus is one of two holiday cottages available at the lighthouse and has a dramatic location on a granite headland on the North Cornwall Coast within a Site of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The South West Coast path passes round the headland, passing through part of Cornwall's oldest mining areas. The lighthouse lies six miles north of Land's End and two miles from St Just. The lighthouse was established in 1900, electrified in 1926 and automated in 1994.

You may be lucky enough to spot seals on the rocks below the lighthouse headland, as well as a variety of seabirds. With banks of seasonal pink thrift and golden gorse, the headland is a perfect location to watch the sun setting over the Atlantic.

Also on this site is Solebay Cottage, sleeping four guests.

Additional Information:

Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge).

Travel cot and highchair available on request.

The lighthouse does not have a fog signal.

There is no WiFi service at Pendeen Lighthouse site.

Very limited mobile signal. A landline telephone is provided.

Access roads to the lighthouse site are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.

Guests are reminded they are renting a heritage building, therefore certain features such as steps, stairs and floor levels may not comply with that of a modern building. As such, we would advise guests to acquaint themselves with the premises on arrival and exercise caution accordingly.

Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.

A barbecue is not provided, however guests are welcome to bring their own, subject to adhering to the safety precautions set out in the arrival information.

Sorry, no fireworks, drones or remote controlled flying equipment are permitted.

Whilst the cliff edge is protected by a 4' high wall, due to the location of the light house, please ensure that children are supervised at all times.

Sorry, charging of an electric car is not permitted.
