About this property

Mevagissey 1 mile. Situated just outside Mevagissey, in the coastal hamlet of Portmellon is The Loft. This modern, apartment-style accommodation offers jaw-dropping views of the beach and a seaside theme throughout, allowing you to make the most of a much-deserved break in Cornwall. It is the ideal retreat for young families and couples. Climb the external, spiral staircase to the apartment and feel a warm welcome from the moment you step inside. The contemporary décor flows seamlessly through the open-plan living room, uplifting your mood each day that passes. The kitchen boasts a sleek design, with an integrated cooker and plenty of storage space. You can rustle up a hearty breakfast and gather around the sunny dining table set in the window, framing the stunning views of the shores brushing golden sands. After a day basking on the beach or touring the wider area, return to two lovely bedrooms accompanied by a glistening family bathroom. Exposed beams and minimalist furnishings add character to the space and even more of those picturesque views to be enjoyed with your morning coffee. A door leads through to the bunk room, which is ideal for a couple travelling with young children. Outside you have your very own patio area with furniture to sit out and soak up a warm summer's day with a drink in one hand and a book in the other. Take a picnic down to the beach and watch the kids splashing in the sea. If you fancy having a night off from cooking, there is a pub, The Rising Sun Inn, within paces, or you can head into Mevagissey. This delightful fishing village offers pubs and restaurants galore, and you can stroll along the harbour to watch the boats coming in and out. Learn of its history at the harbour museum and pay a visit to the aquarium on a rainy day, to discover its fascinating marine life. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are nearby and not to be missed, as is the Eden Project. You can even take a 35-minute ferry ride to Fowey and admire the fabulous south coast, while keeping a look out for dolphins and basking sharks. There is plenty to see and do here from a wonderful base by the sea.

With its cobbled streets and a harbour full of boats, the little town of Mevagissey is the epitome of a Cornish fishing village. This lovely settlement boasts stunning walks leading along the coast in both directions, dotted with sandy beaches, high cliffs and hidden coves to explore. The village itself provides a number of excellent pubs and restaurants whist close by are numerous attractions such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the ferry ride from Mevagissey to Fowey, which runs daily between Easter and September. With the addition of the Tall Ships harbour and shipwreck museum at Charlestown and the world famous Eden Project, this is a diverse and fascinating location. With a stunning coastline with fabulous surfing facilities, this area has something to suit all tastes and budgets.

Very quiet, so sleeping on comfy bed was lovely. A good base for local areas. Met the owner who was very pleasant. We had a lovely time and can highly recommend The Loft for other couples who want to explore this area of Cornwall.

  • Andrew

Very atmospheric with flying seaweed and shaking building whilst excitingly watching the sea crashing against the foreshore.

  • Ian

A comfortable, well furnished base for the local area, the terrace area is an added bonus when the weather's good and on-site parking is handy.
