About this property

The Old Engine House is located in a peaceful smallholding near the tiny hamlet of Tretoil on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Surrounded by reminders of Cornwall’s ancient mining heritage, this comfortable cottage, converted from an old engine house, is ideal for couples. Watch out for Fred, the friendly owners’ soppy dog – the owners live next door and provide home-produced pork! On the ground floor is a cosy living room with wood burning stove, well-equipped kitchen and snug dining room for romantic suppers. Spruce up in the smart ground floor shower room before retiring to the double bedroom on the first floor. From the kitchen there’s a door to the simple garden with raised decking, ideal for evening sundowners. Explore historic Bodmin with its infamous gaol and interesting shops or hire a bike and visit nearby Lanhydrock House. Fine, sandy beaches are just a short drive away at Carlyon bay and Padstow. A fascinating place for couples who enjoy walking, cycling or golf and ideally placed for exploring the whole of Cornwall.

Bodmin, the one-time County Town of Cornwall with its narrow streets, shops and pubs, is perfectly placed for exploring all that this fabulous holiday area has to offer.

It was secluded in the countryside and had a fantastic large garden. The owner's dog Fred was great; got along with ours no problems. The property is well appointed and the owner at hand if needed.

Very good location to both north and south coasts, easy to get to Padstow, Mevagissey and Fowey. We hope to return next year.
