    About this property

An 18C Georgian Country Farmhouse on the outskirts of Frodsham, North Cheshire. A town which enjoys a weekly Thursday market along Main Street, with its specialist shops, popular pubs and wine bars. This historic character farmhouse is located in open countryside between Frodsham Hill and Helsby Hill, and a short walk from Frodsham Marshes and the Mersey Estuary, which attracts many people for its world renowned bird watching. Godscroft Hall stands on the site of a medieval water mill. The remains of the mill pond dam is still in evidence. The first mention of a water mill on the site dates from 1303. The mill was still in use in 1844. Godscroft Hall has been owned by The Warburton Family, who have farmed the surrounding land for four generations. All the family members live nearby. The entrance of the property leads into the large Dining Hall. The interior comprises rooms with character high ceilings or exposed oak beams. The drawing room is a lovely place to return to after a day’s outing; comfy sofas sit amidst traditional furnishings, open fire and a front-facing window welcomes in the natural light. For a cosier feel, enjoy a quiet family evening in the Snug, playing board games, watching TV, reading and chilling out. Follow the grand staircase up to the spacious master bedroom suite, passing the small library area on the top landing. The second family bedroom is just off the grand staircase and comprises king size bed with two singles.
Further along the inner landing you will find a spacious third bedroom comprising a king size bed. The family bathroom is adjacent.
All bedrooms are beautifully presented yet are attuned to the Hall’s authentic feel. Follow the back stairs down to the spacious well equipped kitchen and pantry area. There is also a downstairs cloakroom and storage area. Surrounded by farmland and a farm conservation area within a semi rural location, it is five minutes from Frodsham town centre, and is a remarkable place to visit, bringing guests a holiday to remember any time of year. Just outside the Bears Paw pub in the centre of Frodsham marks the start of the Sandstone Trail, which stretches for 34 miles past nearby Delamere Forest and on into Whitchurch, in Shropshire. The River Weaver offers towpath walks, which allow you to visit Dutton Locks, plus the famous Anderton Boat Lift further on. For the more enthusiastic walker, the North Cheshire Way stretches for 70 miles from the Wirral to the Peak District. The city of Chester is also accessible, a 20 minute drive away. Frodsham railway station is approx 1 mile away.

    Mrs Ashby ‐ 1 Nov 2018
"Very elegant, sensitively furnished and decorated with lots of interesting objects which give it a very authentic feel. We loved it. Impressive, but we felt so at home at the same time. It was spotless on arrival, the Warbies (very friendly and helpful owners) had left some lights on which was very welcoming on a dark winter evening, and some lovely flowers in the kitchen. Everything you could need for a self catering holiday could be found in the kitchen, brilliant. A beautiful setting, ..."
    Mr Hall ‐ 1 Oct 2018
"It is a true farmhouse, very quirky and lots of space. The owners are brilliant and really go that extra mile for you, without imposing themselves. It was a perfect break, for three generations of our family, ie perfect for all ages!!"
    - Mrs Gee, March 2019
"I would certainly recommend the place for family get togethers and the garden is safe and secure for children to play in. The welcome pack from the Warburton family was a lovely touch and we will certainly return again some time in the future."
    - Mrs Appleby, March 2019
"Warm, welcoming and very spacious, we loved the old farmhouse. Location was good for visiting Chester, the Zoo and Blue Aquarium and for local walks. Our visit to Conwy and it’s castle in North Wales was a highlight."
    - Mrs Smith, March 2019
"The beds are really comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there was everything we needed as a family of six plus toddler for a great weekend. Mrs Warburton the owner took great care to get in touch prior to our arrival and had provided lovely extras such as bread milk eggs and chocolates. Much appreciated. Definitely recommend the place which is unique and peaceful."
    - Dr Newsholme, February 2019
"Our girls loved it; the space is large and so my husband and I could relax without worrying about disturbing the little ones. The rooms were all beautifully-kept and comfortable and there was a lovely welcome pack. Couldn’t recommend highly enough! Thanks for a lovely holiday."

It was spotless on arrival, the Warbies (very friendly and helpful owners) had left some lights on which was very welcoming on a dark winter evening, and some lovely flowers in the kitchen. Everything you could need for a self catering holiday could be found in the kitchen, brilliant. A beautiful setting, yet so close to local amenities and also some great tourist locations. Do go to Chester Zoo if you're staying here, it's brilliant. We went out, we stayed in. Either way, the Hall was the perfect venue. We would highly recommend the Hall for a break of any type, I can't see how anyone could not be other than delighted with it."
    - Mr Pierson, November 2018
"Efficient heating for an old building and very comfortable beds. An excellent base for exploring the many attractions in the area. We have already booked to stay again!"
    - Mr Wilkinson, April 2019
"The setting was lovely and the house itself is comfortable and well appointed."
    - Mrs Gowland, December 2018
"Many thanks to the Warburton family for their great welcome."
    - Miss Horrocks, December 2018
"I went to celebrate the new year with friends and it was perfect. Large rooms and grounds (the photos don’t do Godscroft justice - it really is stunning). Liz was a huge help pre and during our stay. She is a fantastic host and goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome e.g prepping the log fire for arrival. Godscroft Hall is an ideal getaway with the Netherton Hall pub a short walk away and conviently located between Frosham and Helsby - meaning all amenities are close by. I would ..."
    - Mr Byron, September 2019
"It is full of Georgian charm and family history and is perfect for a family holiday. It is comfy, well equipped and well placed for sight seeing. Contact from the owners is excellent both prior to arriving and during you stay. I would highly recommend this property."
