"It wasn't a holiday, it was for business. The kitchen equipment was lacking, even basic baking trays etc were missing."
    Murray
"Booked for a quiet relaxing break which is exactly what we got."

"I think, it was the owner who met me there as we couldn't get in, due to no keys being in the keycode box, he was very friendly and apologetic. The house itself could really do with being updated by decoration to make it fresher. The boiler is horrendously noisey but works very well. The water pressure in the ensuite shower and the main bathroom shower is awful, if your expecting a power shower you will be disappointed. Although the appliances and furniture were clean, the carpets really do require a wash or even better, replaced. The stairs and every single floorboard up stairs squeaked like I've never heard before. I feel awful for writing this but, honesty is a must."

"The kitchen could have been better equipped. Not enough serving dishes. Seating in the lounge was not comfortable and lighting was poor. The shower in the double bedroom ensuite was faulted so the shower head had to be hand held in order to direct the water. My husband cut his foot on the shower tray as he stepped out of it."

"We really enjoyed staying here. It was quiet, warm, well equipped & comfortable. We popped into the Spa to meet the owners and were made very welcome. Mrs Martin is lovely! It's a comfortable drive into Ely & Cambridge; the A10 is quiet on that stretch. We had our dog with us & 2 other family members visited us overnight; no fuss was made about anything, we were left happily to ourselves.Intend visiting again & trying out the Spa!"

"We were pleased with the house and had been before. The weather on Sunday was excellent and although our main purpose was to visit a grandson at the university, we house a lovely walk along the river at Littleport and enjoyed going to Ely."

"The location was very good for our purposes and the space, cleanliness and general appearance was good. However, we had a couple of issues, i.e. although we kept the windows shut and the garden doors rarely open we were plagued a bit by flies and did wonder if their was a nest somewhere in the house or there was an aperture where they were getting in - a word in the owners ear might be a good idea. The water pressure in the showers were very weak, but may be there is an issue in that area. Presentation- wise, it was pretty good, but the window frames were a bit dirty and needed repainting. It just let the presentation down a bit. Otherwise, we were very comfortable and appreciated the welcome pack. We would stay there again as the location was very good for us."

"Great to have a welcome package, accommodation good but lacking in some refinements especially for adult visitors."
    George
"It met our needs, however there were a number of niggles, the floors and stairs creaked when walked on and we had to tighten up the wing nuts on the toilet pan and on the towel ring in the en suite which came off it's bracket. The shower cubicle in the en suite is rather small and if you are not careful you can turn off the shower on/off lever. Some confusion over the waste disposal ie the wording in the welcome book and the instructions on the bins. There were only 5 mugs should have been 6.None of these are major issues but need to be attended to before other major problems occur.I accept the shower size would be difficult to resolve."

"Overall very pleased with the accommodation and location - easy to access the places we wanted to visit. The kids loved the garden, despite the weather not being that great. The only downside was we struggled to get heating to work and couldn't find instruction. Also would have been great to have free Wi-Fi. None of these spoilt our holiday and would definitely come back to do more exploring of the area."

"Very comfortable, clean and in a nice quiet setting. Owner very helpful and a lovely welcome pack. Ideal for our purpose. Thank you"

"We enjoyed our stay at Birch House."

"Unable to contact homeowners 're key collection on 2 phone numbers supplied. Eventually got text with code number but no explanation of what this meant. Received no reply to query.arrived after long journey, searched for key box in dark, got in, it was frozen.Overpowering smell of chemical cleaner in living and dining room and kitchens which we could not get rid of. Having stayed in many cottages, we would much prefer a warm, welcoming house with some character."
