Once a traditional Spanish fishing village, it is today considered to be the most glamorous place on the Costa del Sol. There are several beaches in the area, including the popular Nueva Andalucia Beach and here you can rent a pedalo or kayak, swim in the calm waters or simply enjoy feeling the sand between your toes. Afterwards, browse the designer stores or stop for a cool drink stop at the harbour and watch the big yachts bobbing in the water. Come evening, the place gets crowded with partygoers who flock to the town's glitzy bars and nightclubs.
For further amenities, make the 40-minute drive to neighbouring Marbella and spend the day soaking up the sun on one of the fabulous beaches or dining at a Michelin-starred seafront restaurant. While here, be sure to stroll through the attractive old town with its whitewashed buildings, flower boxes and narrow lanes and admire the Moorish and baroque architecture that bears witness to the presence of both Arabs and Christians in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
