About this property

Nestled among expansive vineyards spanning 50 hectares and enveloped by meticulously landscaped gardens, this remarkable estate is an impeccable choice for those in search of premium accommodations in Portugal, suitable for hosting large gatherings in one of the nation's most stunning regions. Situated in the foothills of Serra de Arga and in proximity to the renowned Biological Park of the Bertiandos Lagoon, celebrated for its appeal to nature enthusiasts and avid hikers.

Lodging

The guest quarters are thoughtfully distributed between the stately Manor House, tracing its origins back to the XVII century, and the adjacent cottage, both of which have recently undergone comprehensive renovations, achieving a standard of opulence that harmoniously complements the heritage. The interior renovations honour the structure's historic elements while furnishing all the contemporary conveniences one could desire. Striking tiles and soaring ceilings were meticulously conserved, each intricate detail thoughtfully attended to. The communal spaces are artfully adorned with plush furnishings. An indoor heated swimming pool graced with views of the surrounding vineyards awaits, alongside a sun terrace ideal for basking in sunlight and partaking in open-air dining.

The Main House

Ground floor: Three capacious double bedrooms, each graced with an ensuite bathroom and opening onto a sheltered terrace overlooking the vineyards. An additional twin bedroom, complete with a sofa bed, accommodating a single adult. Two guest cloakrooms. An expansive living room equipped with a television, comfortable seating, a pool table, and a games table. The proprietor's living quarters are situated on the upper level of the main house, guaranteeing the guests' seclusion and privacy.

The Cottage

Ground floor: A generous suite featuring twin beds and a supplementary sofa bed, suitable for an adult, along with an ensuite bathroom. A twin bedroom, complete with its own ensuite bathroom. Two guest cloakrooms. A fitted kitchen. A sprawling living and dining area replete with plush seating, a television, and an area for games. An adjacent pool house, equipped with dining amenities such as a stove, dishwasher, sink, and an expansive fridge/freezer, opening onto an external terrace complete with a barbecue, an idyllic venue for dining under the stars.

Upper floor: Two twin bedrooms affording views of the vineyards and the Manor House, along with an additional pair of twin bedrooms with vistas of the woodland. Every bedroom features an ensuite bathroom.

Exterior

Ample sunbathing terraces, verdant lawns, and mature gardens set the scene. The indoor heated swimming pool, measuring 7 by 3.5 meters, is attached to the cottage and faces west, affording captivating vistas. The pool's depth varies between 1.00 and 1.50 meters. Changing rooms, inclusive of a shower, are provided for convenience. An exclusive tennis court is at the guests' disposal.

Enveloped in vineyards and rolling hills of green, Casa Ligia is located in the beautiful Minho region, in the foothills of Serra da Arga mountains.

Located between the spa town of Gerês, the traditional village of Lindoso and the beautiful old village of Ponte de Lima, you are ideally situated to enjoy the quaint communities as well as the slow pace of life of rural Portugal. The town of Braga, the capital of the district, is about 40 minutes away and hosts many relics of the region’s diverse history.

Minho is a fantastic, mostly rural region on the northernmost Atlantic tip of Portugal, bordering the Spanish region of Galicia, with which it shares many attributes. Minho is perhaps most famous as the home of the Vinho Verde, a crisp, dry white wine (although as the name suggests, it is, in fact, green!) best enjoyed with a local fish dish.

Very lovely, and very affordable. Minho is particularly special as it features the country's only National Park, the Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, which is just half an hour from Casa Ligia, with around 72,000 ha of land. It is a mountainous nature reserve that includes prehistoric remains, walking trails, rugged hills as well as deer, wolves and golden eagles!

Portugal itself is a small, fascinating country at the most Western point of mainland Europe. The capital, Lisbon, is known for its lively nightlife, with endless bars and clubs full of fun-loving locals and tourists alike, but also has plenty of fascinating history (check out Belém, jam-packed with monuments!) and undulating terrain, famously termed the ‘city of the seven hills’.

From Lisbon, it is very quick to travel by the domestic high-speed train line to the city of Braga, which will connect you reasonably quickly to Casa Ligia.

With a vast coastline with the mighty Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a real paradise for the keen surfer, or indeed even those looking to try it for the first time. And for those less keen on surfing, the beaches of Portugal are still well worth a visit for their beautifully clear waters and beautiful sands.

We rented Casa Ligia through you last spring and had an absolutely marvelous time. The accommodations were just spectacular and the location was terrific. Your services were wonderful. Maria was a delight and we loved her food. My friends who took your wine tour told me it was the highlight of the trip for them.
